No extra movement. Now learn to unwind from that position and let... your body organize itself to get the barrel through the ball. When you take away the movement, there’s nowhere to hide. You learn how to create quickness and power without momentum. Then we add the movement back in. The result? A quicker barrel, more efficient turn, and ultimately more exit velocity. Since 2020, the athletes I’ve trained have earned 32 college scholarships, including some of the biggest programs in the country. One player I helped completely rework her movement went on to become the 2022 ACC Player of the Year. What makes it special is that I’m not connected to any organization, and I don’t have hundreds of athletes cycling through. My training happens in a Little League cage, no tech, no Rapsodo, no bat speed sensors. Everything I teach comes down to one thing: learning how to move from the center out. Five years ago, I realized we were training like everyone else chasing one swing method, one path and all my hitters started to look the same. I knew something was missing. That’s when I dove into movement science, retrained my own body, and discovered that real development doesn’t come from mechanics or cookie-cutter paths. I’ve never been one to settle. Today, I have a few trusted mentors across the country whom I speak with daily about movement and hitting, and I’ve spent significant time learning from them. Most parents and coaches think the next “best drill” will fix a player’s swing. What they don’t understand is that a tool starting in the hands cannot fix the swing. Real development starts from the middle out controlling center mass first. Start at the hands or barrel, and you fight the body’s natural movement. The swing doesn’t happen overnight. Consistency and true swing change come from years of learning how to move properly. When athletes get strong, develop great habits, and understand how to control their center, development skyrockets. Stay patient. Stay consistent. Prioritize movement over results. The swing is built on movement, not mechanics. Control your center, and the rest of the body follows. Adjustability, power, and consistency all start here. At the end of the day, I don’t care what a swing looks like I care how the body moves. Every athlete who trains here learns to control their center, adapt to every pitch, and build a swing that works naturally. Control your center. Control your swing. Be the best version of yourself.

Everybody tries to fix their direction by training and feeling their bat path. Makes sense. The barrel and hands the part you can feel the most. But your path is mostly just following where your body already sent the energy. Posture leaks a little, the energy comes away from the ball, and the barrel goes right along with it. So when you’re pulling off, it usually started before your swing even starts. It started with your posture and where your body was working. Hands, path, posture, energy. They all work together. Clean up the stride, body energy and posture and the barrel falls in line on its own. Typically. The drill in the video is how you train that. Volume up so you catch the cue.

I am totally committed to getting a standing desk. This conversation with Kelly Starrett convinced me. Sitting isn't necessarily bad. Standing (and more movement in general) is good. But desks give you almost no movement options. So how can we create more movement choice during the workday? If you have a standing desk, it helps to make it an actual movement station. That means having something to put a foot on so you can shift your pelvis and spine out of the same static position, and ideally a bar stool or perch so you can lean, sit, prop a foot up, or change positions easily. That’s the real benefit of a good desk setup. Not that you’re standing all day, but that you’re no longer locked into one posture.
