“The economic data have been just surreally good. Even optimists are just stunned,” says Nobel Prize-winning economist Paul Krugman. So why do polls show most Americans don’t think the economy is doing well? “There’s a really profound and peculiar disconnect going on.”

@paulkrugman There's a "profound and peculiar disconnect' between everyday Americans, who know the economy is bad, and people like Krugman who just recite the government's "data". Never forget that Paul Krugman once said that the internet would be no more impactful than fax machines.

@paulkrugman Tell me you don't buy your own groceries without telling me that

@paulkrugman Young families can't afford to buy cars or houses. Sorry that their frustration is confusing to rich pundits like Krugman.

@paulkrugman Leftist shills: The economy is not just good, but surreally good. Hours later:

@paulkrugman They're communists. The destruction is intentional and the lies to hide that destruction is also intentional. I'm not sure why everyone is so surprised by these pathological liars anymore.

@paulkrugman Inflation is locked in… the *rate* went down for now, but: Credit card debt is at highs Auto loans now defaulting Bank savings are at lows Deposits at banks are fleeing You have to be on the establishment dole (even if obliquely at the NYT) to say these things

This is so out of touch. Working class Americans judge the economy by their bank accounts and their ability to afford life. Grocery prices are still high. While inflation has slowed, that just means prices aren't rising as quickly. 61% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck. Personal debt is up and personal savings is down. Due to inflation, Americans have had to put necessities on credit cards and/or dip into their savings. A growing number of people are using buy now/pay later for groceries. It's not because of partisanship that people think the economy is bad, it's due to their own personal struggles.

@paulkrugman Kind of like this disconnect?

@sincereBS @paulkrugman Media is NOT doing its job. It focuses on every breath Trump takes and ignores the incredible progress the Biden Administration has achieved. Media, it seems will decide the next election based on what they choose to report.

@paulkrugman Let them eat cake, Paul.
