They are excellent climbers and swimmers. They have a lifespan of around 15 years in the wild. They are crepuscular animals, meaning they are most active at dawn and dusk. They are very territorial and will defend their range from other lynxes. Eurasian lynx kittens are born blind and helpless, but they open their eyes after about 10 days and are able to walk after about 3 weeks. Eurasian lynxes are a fascinating and important part of the ecosystem. We should all do our part to protect this magnificent animal.

The Eurasian Lynx (Lynx Lynx) is a medium sized wild cat with tufty ears webbed paws and a short bobbed tail. They are solitary cats native to the forests of Northern Europe and hunt by stealth. They became extinct in the wild in many areas due to hunting and habitat loss. The lynx have been reintroduced to the wild in Switzerland, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, Italy and France. The British government has blocked bids to reintroduce them to the Highlands of Scotland.

European lynxes are remarkable for their hunting abilities, thanks to their ears with tufts of hair to locate prey and retractable claws to grasp the prey precisely. They also have long hind legs, which allow them to jump and climb with agility. The lynx is a solitary animal, although in some cases, two adults, generally of opposite sexes, have been observed hunting together. However, these events are not very frequent among lynxes, and adults mostly encounter each other only during courtship and mating. The lynx fiercely defends its territory and often displays hostility towards any predator that intrudes to hunt. These animals are known to mark their territory by urinating on shrubs and tree trunks. A particular feature is that the lynx's urine crystallizes, emitting a strong odor. In addition to this marking system, lynxes also commonly scratch tree barks.
