The EXTREMELY CRITICAL wildfire threat has been expanded south into the Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles today with wind gusts up to 70 mph with relative humidity values dropping below 10%. Any fires that pop will expand rapidly given the dry vegetation and prime fire weather conditions. Thank you Seth...

This is what firefighters are up against outside Reno. The vegetation around the #HawkFire is so dry you can pick it up and pulverize it in your hands. Add low humidity and increasing afternoon winds, and you have conditions primed for wildfire growth. The National Weather Service expects humidity to fall sharply this afternoon as southwest winds increase, with gusts potentially reaching 20–25 mph. Officials continue to report 0% containment, with hundreds of firefighters and additional resources working the fire. This dry brush tells the story. It doesn’t take much for fire to find fuel here. We’re outside Reno with continuing coverage on The Weather Channel.

Over 9 MILLION people are at risk of critical fire weather conditions tomorrow across the Plains, from the Mexico border to western South Dakota and eastern Wyoming — with over 1,000 continuous miles of fire weather warnings in place. Wind gusts will likely exceed 65 mph at times across a large portion of the warning area tomorrow (Tuesday). With fuels in the 70th to 90th percentile, and RH values below 14% any fire that does start will act erratic and spread rapidly. I will be LIVE all day in the WeatherWise.app Ryan Hall, Y’all

As the sun sets, hundreds of lives are being changed in Woodward, Oklahoma, as a massive wildfire continues to spread. The current state of Woodward remains unclear, but it’s evident this wildfire is far from slowing down. Strong winds and extremely dry conditions will persist through the night, creating dangerous and unpredictable fire behavior. Firefighters and frontline crews are doing everything they can to protect lives and property, but with weather conditions like these, containing a wildfire of this magnitude is incredibly difficult. Extreme winds in Texas are flipping trucks, kicking up a dust storm, and ripping apart billboards. Officials warn the fire danger is critical, with any spark capable of spreading rapidly. Severe storms and tornadoes are expected to bring further destruction. This is the first time parts of the area have seen an extreme fire threat in several years.

Nearly 100,000 people have been evacuated from their homes near Reno Nevada, because of the hawk fire. Containment is 0% and acreage burned is more than 15,000. They will be assessing how many homes have burned. We are in the heart of wildfire season and nearly 85% of wildfires are started by humans, mostly accidental but still when you see this forecast it’s important to remember it’s very dry, when you get a breeze of even 15 to 25 mph that can spread wildfires quickly. Relative humidity dropping tomorrow to 20% or less..

On the front line of the #CowCreekFire. Active #wildfire flames near Bronson, Florida. This is an active wildfire burning out of control in spots, with more than 1,400 acres already gone and containment still low. Crews with the Florida Forest Service are hitting it from the ground and the air, but conditions are stacked against them. Low humidity, extreme drought, and no rain in the forecast. Homes are threatened. And this fire still has room to run. We’re embedded with wild land firefighters with the Florida Forest Service on the frontline. You can see just how fast this is moving and what crews are up against. If you’re anywhere near this fire, stay ready and evacuate when asked to do so. The Weather Channel Is live in Florida 🔥

⛈️🙄Has divine help arrived? 🛰️A convective storm cell from the Atlantic is currently moving over the massive wildfire zone in Gironde, France! 🇫🇷 📍The heavy precipitation core is directly over the flames. Will this have a positive impact, or could it create negative consequences? 🧵👇 🟢 THE HOPE: If the heavy rainfall (yellow/pink core) reaches the ground, it will spike humidity and drop temperatures, breaking the fire's momentum. This could be the crucial support firefighters need. 🔴 THE RISKS: However, the storm carries two major risks: 1️⃣ Severe Winds (Downdrafts): Pre-storm wind gusts can fan the flames and shift the fire's direction unpredictably. 2️⃣ Lightning: High lightning activity can trigger new fire hotspots in dry surrounding vegetation. ❓ CURRENT STATUS: Rain bands are making impact, but wind gusts and lightning activity remain critical. The next 1-2 hours will decide the fate of the wildfire. Can anyone in the region share updates on the current rain situation? 🔥🌧️ #Gironde #FranceWildfire #GirondeFire #France #Wildfire #MeteoFrance #Radar #Storm
