I don’t think I’ve ever seen this during a preseason game. A fan taunted the ref and refused to give him the ball back, so he was thrown out of the game. Even LeBron got up and gestured for him to be removed. #Lakeshow

Just so unlucky hitting the crossbar 5 times in a game added with the wrong calls from ref and VAR. It wasn’t just meant to be. I can’t remember the last time I was pissed off because of a game like this. Crazy game

Here's a good example of 1) how to make a point to a ref, but 2) when you go too far. Team Canada's head coach is upset with 3 calls and discusses it with the ref at the end of the 3rd. But once he says "But you guys gotta do better" watch the ref reaction, and his response.

Toledo won. They earned it. I’m taking nothing away from them. However, I really hope this play sparks convo with the NCAA for next year about a rule change if the ref is involved. Should be ruled dead where ref interferes or something. This changed the whole game.

Let me state up front that these two plays were NOT the reason St. John's lost yesterday. And I am a numbers guy so no need to tell me about our shooting stats in the game. But I need to vent. We knew Arkansas over their prior 8 games was making a concerted effort to get to the free throw line - they averaged 26.5 free throws over this 8 game period. In the 10 games prior to this 8 game period, Arkansas averaged 19.3 free throws attempts per game - right in line with D1 average per game. The coaching staff gave a clear direction to our players prior to the game - wall up with your hands in the air and maintain verticality. I am including two clips here of just that in which the Arkansas player initiated contact, Zuby and Kadary went straight up with their hands in the air, and Arkansas was rewarded with two trips to the free throw line. In the first clip, St. John's had a 4 point lead with 2 minutes to go in the first half with momentum as Arkansas hadn't made a field goal in 3 minutes. Zuby does exactly what he was instructed when Boogie Fland initiated contact and the baseline ref who is 6 feet away from the action does not blow his whistle, but another ref does award Boogie Fland two free throws. That started a 7-0 run for Arkansas and they went into the half with a 3 point lead. I can't provide enough words on the second clip on just how unjust it was to have a late whistle call on Kadary going straight up in the air and getting his fifth foul called on him with 6:28 to play. Kadary was limited to just 16 minutes of play in the entire game because of foul trouble. And as a reminder, I will end this post with how I started it. These two plays were NOT the reason St. John's lost yesterday.

The Oxford Union debate on the proposition ‘This house believes the West is right to be suspicious of Islam’ is something I look forward to listening to in full. But this clip is a masterclass of diversion and illusion. The first time I watched it I was nervous, wanting Laurence Fox to break the unbreakable convention to prove a point, but truly scared for him as well. The second time I watched it I admired the cleverness without the fear, noting Jonathan Sacerdoti deep joy in the realisation of the deception. The third time I noted how perfectly the opposition played their role in proving the point Mr Fox was making. The atmosphere of fear was electric. Bravo indeed Laurence Fox, a feat worthy of a skywizard.
