BREAKING: The Artemis II astronauts are further from Earth than any humans have ever traveled. Just before 2 p.m. Eastern time, the crew members broke the record of 248,655 miles away from Earth. The previous record was set by the Apollo 13 astronauts in April of 1970. "On April 15, 1970, during the Apollo 13 mission, three explorers set the record for the farthest distance humans have ever traveled from our home planet," said capsule communicator Jenni Gibbons. "At that time, over 55 years ago, Lovell, Swigert and Haise flew 248,655 statute miles away from Earth. Today, for all humanity, you’re pushing beyond that frontier." The crew will reach their maximum distance from Earth at about 252,760 miles in about four hours.

Polaris Dawn Dragon spacecraft achieved its nominal orbit, with an apogee height of 1,400 km and a quite low perigee of 200 km – The orbit period is around 100 minutes at an inclination of 51.7 degrees. Polaris Dawn will break several records, as SpaceX wants to fly a manned mission through the Van Allen belt, perform the first-ever commercial extravehicular activity (EVA), and a laser satellite-to-spacecraft link with Starlink.

Humanity's first crewed lunar mission in more than half a century lifted off Wednesday. After a tense afternoon of checks and fixes, four astronauts — three Americans and one Canadian — aboard NASA's newest moon rocket began their journey at 6:35 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. Over the next 10 days, the crew of the Artemis II mission will fly around the moon and back while setting a new record for the farthest distance humans have ever traveled from Earth. Apollo 17, in 1972, was the last time astronauts landed on the moon.

SpaceX Astronaut, Engineer, and Medical Officer Anna Menon (Anna Menon) played a critical role in the recent and historic Polaris Dawn mission (Polaris). Anna and her crewmates reached the highest orbit since the last Apollo flight in 1972, more than 50 years ago. They also depressurized the Dragon Capsule and performed the first commercial spacewalk before returning safely to Earth.

The Artemis II crew has proposed to name two new moon craters - one in honour of their spacecraft 'Integrity' and the other in memory of Reid Wiseman's late wife, Carroll, who died of cancer in 2020. The name proposals came after the crew travelled the farthest distance from Earth, breaking the record set by Apollo 13. 🔗
