THE FIRST GENERATION TO GROW UP WITH HUMANOID ROBOTS IS ALREADY HERE. And that could matter more than any robot demo. Look at this scene. A humanoid standing outside a school. Children walking around it. Watching it. Interacting with it. For adults, a machine like this still looks futuristic.... For a child growing up around them? It could eventually look completely normal. Think about how quickly that changes a market. A generation ago, having a computer inside your home was unusual. Then children grew up with computers. The same happened with smartphones. Then tablets. Then AI. Technology stops feeling revolutionary when an entire generation has never known a world without it. Humanoids could be next. Imagine children growing up seeing robots in schools. Stores. Airports. Hospitals. Hotels. Homes. They won’t ask whether humans should interact with robots. They’ll already be doing it. And that matters economically. Because one of the biggest barriers to consumer robotics isn’t just price. It’s trust. People need to feel comfortable allowing an autonomous machine into their personal space. Inside their homes. Around their families. Around their children. That kind of acceptance can take years. Sometimes generations. But children who grow up around humanoids won’t need the same adjustment. To them, asking a robot to carry something might feel as normal as asking Alexa a question feels today. And once that happens, the addressable market changes dramatically. A robot isn’t just industrial equipment anymore. It becomes a household product. A service platform. An assistant. Potentially even something families upgrade every few years. First robot at school. First robot at the mall. First robot at work. Eventually… first robot at home. The companies building humanoids today aren’t only competing for today’s customers. They may be competing to become familiar to an entire generation of future customers. Because the biggest sign that humanoid robots have won won’t be people staring at them. It’ll be children walking past one without thinking twice.show more

THIS GENERATION MAY BE THE FIRST TO GROW UP THINKING HUMANOID ROBOTS ARE NORMAL. And that's a much bigger deal than it sounds. Look at the adults. Phones out. Cameras recording. Everyone watching the machine because it's unusual. Now look at the kid. He just interacts with it. That's the transition. Adults today compare humanoids to science fiction. Children growing up with them may compare them to: smartphones, tablets, smart speakers, or any other technology that's simply always been there. And markets change completely when technology stops feeling like technology. The smartphone didn't become enormous because people remained fascinated by touchscreens. It became enormous when nobody thought twice about using one. Humanoid robots could eventually cross the same line. One generation asks: “Why would I want a robot in my house?” The next might ask: “Why wouldn't you have one?” The biggest shift in robotics might not happen inside the machine. It might happen inside the people growing up around them.

$40 hours of human work. That’s what this humanoid could save every month! A construction company is already testing a Unitree G1 on a real job site, using the robot for site inspections, 360° imaging, data collection and progress monitoring. The robot starts at around $13,500, while the company says its deployment can save roughly 40 hours of work every month. That adds up to around 480 hours a year from a machine that costs a fraction of traditional industrial equipment. The interesting part is that this isn't about replacing an entire construction worker. It's about removing hundreds of repetitive hours from the workflow, including walking inspection routes, documenting progress and collecting information across the site. Humans can then spend their time on decisions and tasks that actually require them. This is where humanoid robots become economically interesting. Construction sites are already designed around human movement, so a robot with two arms, two legs and a human-sized body can potentially work in the same spaces without rebuilding the entire environment. Every additional task it learns turns those same hardware costs into more productive hours. And the economics get even more interesting as prices fall and production scales. A robot that saves 480 hours per year doesn't need to be perfect or replace a full-time employee to justify its existence. It just needs to reliably take over the boring, repetitive work that companies are already paying humans to do. 480 hours saved. Thousands of dollars in hardware. One construction site. This is how humanoids will enter the workforce, not by replacing everyone overnight, but by quietly taking over the hours nobody wants to spend.$

⚠️ THE WEIRDEST PART OF THIS ROBOT DEMO? NOBODY SEEMS SURPRISED ANYMORE! Humanoid robots are moving through a crowded public space while people walk around them like they're just another part of the environment. There’s no empty laboratory, no isolated testing area and no perfect path marked on the floor — just machines and humans sharing the same space. That makes this feel less like a robot demonstration and more like a preview of everyday life. Getting one humanoid to walk is one problem. Getting several machines to move safely around unpredictable people is another, because humans constantly stop, turn, cross paths and change direction without warning. Every movement requires the robots to perceive what is happening around them, maintain balance and continuously adjust their path. That's the shift worth paying attention to. The milestone isn't simply that robots can walk among humans — it's that we're starting to see environments where they can actually belong. Once that becomes reliable enough for shopping centers, airports, factories and offices, the question stops being whether humanoids can enter our world. It becomes what we're going to ask them to do once they're here.

🚨 THIS IS HOW IT STARTS — HUMANOID ROBOT SUDDENLY LUNGES AT A MAN — EXACTLY THE MOMENT PEOPLE FEARED A humanoid robot was casually kicking a soccer ball around during a public demonstration. Then the ball rolled toward a man in the audience. He tried to kick it back. That’s when the robot suddenly charged toward him and raised its arm like it was about to swing. Within seconds, a handler rushed in and grabbed the robot before the moment escalated. People in the room laugh nervously… but the clip is making the rounds online for one reason: The movement looks almost human. The way it runs. The stance. The arm coming up. Even the comments are losing it: • “Tf was it going to HIT for???” • “Why did it need to be held back?” • “DON’T TOUCH MY BALL” • “How do they get pissed off if they supposedly don’t have emotions?” The strangest part? The robot seemed to react the instant the human interfered with the ball. Are we just watching a glitch during a demo… or the exact moment people warned about?

Imagine you go to a store and you want to buy candy. The shopkeeper knows you're a real kid because they can see you standing right there. Now imagine you send a robot to buy candy for you. The shopkeeper looks at the robot and thinks: wait, who sent this? Is this robot allowed to buy candy? What if someone else's robot pretends to be yours and steals your candy money? That's basically what's happening with AI right now. Companies like Visa let people buy things all over the world. But now, smart computer robots (AI agents) want to buy things too. Shop around, compare prices, even pay for stuff. Visa looked at this and said: nope, not yet. Because they have no way to check if the robot is real, who it belongs to, or if it's allowed to spend that money. The problem is that all the rules we have for checking identity - showing your ID, scanning your face, typing your password - only work for humans. Robots can't do any of that. Worse, bad robots can actually copy and fake human identities really well. So Evin McMullen evin, Billions Network co-founder and CEO, says we need a new kind of ID system. One where you can prove something is true without showing all your private stuff. Like proving you're tall enough for a ride without telling anyone your exact height. That's called zero-knowledge proof. And for the robots specifically, we need something called KYA - Know Your Agent. It's like giving every robot its own ID card that says: this is who I am, this is what I'm allowed to do, and this is the human responsible for me. Until we build that, the robot economy can't really get going. Here is Evin’s Thought Leader article at Silicon Valleys Journal

✨💗Before the World Teaches Them Otherwise There is something about the way children respond to another person in need. They don't pause to think about whether they should get involved. They don't wonder if someone else should do it. They don't stop to consider how their kindness might look to the people around them. They simply notice. And when they see that someone needs a little help, their first instinct is often to do something about it. That instinct is easy to overlook because, to a child, it feels completely normal. There is no great decision behind it. No calculation. No expectation of being thanked. Just a small act of kindness, offered because someone needed it. And perhaps that is what makes childhood so beautiful. Before the world teaches us otherwise, children trust. Before we learn to measure every relationship, children give freely. Before we become afraid of looking foolish, children simply do what feels right. An adult might walk past because they are busy. Another might notice but hesitate, wondering whether it is their responsibility. A child may not think that far. They just see a person. And perhaps that is one of the quiet lessons children give us without even knowing it: Kindness does not always need an explanation. As we grow older, life teaches us many useful things — how to protect ourselves, how to be careful, how to think before we act. But in learning all of that, we should be careful not to lose the simplest part of ourselves. The part that still notices. The part that still cares. The part that can see someone struggling and think, “Let me help.” Children are not innocent because they know nothing about the world. They are innocent because, before the world teaches them otherwise, they still believe there is nothing strange about being good to one another.

CES was an enormous success. We saw thousands of people and a few dogs interacting with our agents and robots. We booked this booth at the last minute, mainly to book next year’s booth. Truly extraordinary what our team was able to put together on such short notice. Next year we reserved one of the largest booths at CES in the highest traffic location for AI and Robotics. We plan to unveil something extraordinary. Until the next show, we will be debuting the first custom models that will emerge from the first humanoid robotics hot rod shop. These models will be walking around, talking and interacting at tradeshows all over the world over the next few months. We are in the process of acquiring every humanoid robot available on the market to modify these as well. Stay tuned for more updates, the future is here and it’s rapidly accelerating.

I spent a month in Shenzhen visiting factories and robotics companies, and the contrast with the U.S. was striking. While Figure and Boston Dynamics hide their humanoids behind closed doors, Chinese companies have massive showrooms open to the public. But what really stood out wasn't just the transparency, it was how good they are at selling. Take UBTech: they've already sold 1,200 humanoid units at $200k each to factories. And here's the kicker, these robots aren't even that useful yet. They can only pick up and drop boxes at 1/10th the speed of a human, and factories still need to hire system integrators to train them for specific tasks. My theory is that these factories are terrified of getting left behind in the robotics/AI wave. They're investing in new tech not because it's ready, but because they can't afford to wait. The second surprise was the breadth of their robotics portfolio. These companies aren't just building humanoids, they're deploying service robots everywhere: restaurants, hotels, apartments. Consumer robots are cleaning houses, pools, pet waste, dishes. They're covering the entire spectrum. But the education piece shocked me most. I picked up what I thought was a high school or college robotics textbook, it was for primary school. The government mandated AI and robotics education starting in elementary school. Almost every single school in China now has AI and robotics curriculum, complete with education robots so kids can learn by building. They're creating a generation that grows up fluent in robotics and AI. China owns the supply chain and the hardware stack. But here's what I think people are missing: the race isn't just about who can build robots faster or cheaper. The U.S. advantage has always been in the layer between hardware and human, the interaction design, the software intelligence, the intuitive interfaces that make complex technology feel natural. China is building the physical infrastructure, but they're also learning fast. Every deployed service robot, every classroom full of kids building with education kits, every factory running humanoids, that's all data collection at scale. The window for the U.S. to establish its wedge is narrowing. It's not enough to be better at AI or software anymore. We need to be building the integration layer, the intelligence that makes physical AI actually useful, not just impressive in a showroom. Because right now, China isn't just manufacturing robots. They're manufacturing a robotics-native culture, and that might be the most defensible moat of all.

A Gaussian Splat can become a world where Robots and AI agents can act. In our latest OVER Research experiment, we placed a robot inside a real-world 3D capture, with a VLM making decisions based on what it sees. At every step, the robot holds a pose in the reconstruction, gets a newly rendered view of the environment, takes an action, moves, and sees the world again from its new position. Why does this matter? Because 3D captures can become more than reconstructions to explore. They can become environments where embodied AI and robots can navigate, act, be evaluated and eventually train across real-world spaces at scale. Capture a place once. Then turn it into a world where AI and Robots can act. The full experiment, including what we discovered once we actually put the loop to the test:

JUST IN: Reimagine Robotics has just emerged from stealth! 🥷🏻 Its approach to robot training is one of the most human-centric I've seen. The founder is Jonathan Scholz, the person who built and led Google DeepMind's Applied Robotics team in London for seven years. This is not a first-time founder taking a swing at robotics. He has spent a decade at the frontier of the field. The philosophy is powerful. He calls it "monkey-see, monkey-do." 🐒 A worker shows the robot what to do. Watches it attempt the task. Corrects it on the spot. The robot learns. No specialist programmers. No months of integration. And it's already working in the real world: → A made-to-order plastics business trained robots to tend 3D printers overnight, removing print beds, operating latches, pressing controls → A hard drive disassembly facility built a three-robot cell combining robots and people to recover critical materials → Time to prototype and test a new robot behaviour reduced from one day to 10 MINUTES That last number is the one that changes everything. When testing a new behaviour takes 10 minutes instead of a day, the entire pace of deployment transforms. Scholz's framing of the human-robot relationship is worth reading carefully: "A robot that learns on the job depends on people. The worker identifies the bottleneck, shows the robot how to help, and corrects it until it is useful." It's August, and we keep getting robotics bangers week in week. ~~ ♻️ Join the weekly robotics newsletter, and never miss any news →

Floodwater And a Frightened Little Girl 🥹 She probably doesn't even understand right now why everything suddenly became so scary. For her, all that matters is that the world around her has changed her home, her family, her surroundings. And at this moment, all she needs is the hand of someone she trusts Whether it's a natural disaster or a man-made tragedy, the ones who suffer the most are often the children the ones who have barely seen enough of life to even comprehend what's happening Some children get separated from their homes, some get distanced from their parents, and some lose their mother or father forever. There are times when all that's left for a child is to just cry At an age when kids should be playing with toys, they are instead witnessing destruction around them. At an age when they should be walking while holding their parents' finger, many are seen wandering around looking for their loved ones And the most heartbreaking part is that this little girl probably doesn't even know why this is happening to her. She doesn't know what caused these conditions, whose fault it is, or what mistake she is paying for When nature unleashes its fury, it doesn't spare anyone based on age. But the deepest impact always falls on innocent children because they have neither the strength to understand the situation, nor the power to fight it A disaster doesn't just take away homes, belongings, and roads... it often steals from children their safe childhood, their family, and even their smile Behind these innocent eyes lies a pain that is perhaps impossible to put into words All one can pray for is that every child stays safe, stays with their family, and gets the chance to live their childhood not in the shadow of fear, but with a smile❤️

What kind of adults are we preparing our children to become? Strong kids don't become strong overnight. It starts with the little things they learn when they're young. Teaching them to keep their word, finish what they start, clean up after themselves, help around the house, and take responsibility for their choices gives them a foundation they can carry for the rest of their lives. A good work ethic is built the same way. Kids need to learn that not everything worth having comes easily. Sometimes you have to work when you don't feel like it. Sometimes you fail and have to try again. Sometimes nobody is going to do the job for you. That doesn't mean children shouldn't have fun or enjoy being kids. They absolutely should. But love isn't the same thing as making life easy for them. One of the best things a parent can do is give a child enough responsibility to discover that they're capable of handling it. When kids learn discipline, responsibility, and perseverance early, they gain something much more valuable than an easy childhood. They gain confidence in their ability to face life. Are we raising children who expect everything to be done for them, or children who will be ready to take responsibility for their own lives?

I watched Robot on the Road and honestly I did not really know what to expect going in At the beginning it just feels like a pretty normal little road trip setup with this robot hitchhiking around Japan and it almost gives off a chill slice of life vibe But it does not stay like that for long The more it goes on the more you realize the robot is doing some really questionable stuff and the way it focuses on women without their consent makes the whole thing feel really uncomfortable By the end I was not really sure if I was supposed to find it funny or just feel weird about it Overall it feels like one of those shorts that tries to mix dark humor with awkward situations but it mostly just ends up being unsettling

It's 2030 and you are reviewing humanoid robots. A Tesla. A Google. An Apple. An OpenAI. A Meta. A Figure. And a bunch of Chinese-made ones. Which one is best, and why? I think the Tesla understands the world much better. Why? There were eight Teslas around me on the freeway today. Start there. No other robot company has that data. But my robot is parked at the local high school twice a day. Its cameras see humans in all of our weirdness. How we move. Where we go. Where we walk. Who we talk with. What you are wearing. Whether your hair was combed this morning. That data will lead to robotics breakthroughs. Apple might keep up with its Vision Pro data, but it is too freaked out by the privacy implications of using said data. (On the front are six cameras and a couple of TOF -- Time Of Flight -- sensors that can see everything in your home in great detail). Google has a lot of data, for sure. All my: 1. Email. 2. Calendars. 3. Photos. 4. TV watching behavior. 5. Contacts. 6. Documents and spreadsheets. 7. Files. 8. Location data. So I expect Google's robot will be attractive to many. But how do you see the others shake out over the next five years? Make some guesses. But remember what an AI pioneer told me years ago about AI: it's all about the data. The Chinese ones have huge advantages: the Chinese have more data on their citizens, and many more citizens to boot AND they can make robots cheaper than we can. But now that you know OpenAI is building its own robot you have caught wind of what I've heard from many in San Francisco and Silicon Valley: that humanoid robots are the real prize of AI and will be highly profitable for those that can make them and find customers willing to buy them. Here, too, I learned long ago never to bet against Elon Musk. Will you?

Are we making childhood so comfortable that we're accidentally making adulthood harder? There's something worth thinking about when you look at kids today. A lot of children have more comfort, entertainment, convenience, and protection than previous generations ever had, yet most still seem to have less experience dealing with discomfort, boredom, failure, physical effort, and the ordinary frustrations of life. Part of the problem might be that we've gotten really good at removing obstacles. Kids can spend hours sitting in front of screens instead of running around outside. Parents can solve problems for them before they ever have a chance to figure them out. We're constantly entertaining them, protecting them from disappointment, and sometimes treating every uncomfortable feeling like something that needs to be immediately fixed. None of this means children shouldn't be protected or cared for. They absolutely should. But there's a difference between protecting a child from genuine danger and protecting them from every difficult experience. Kids need opportunities to be physically active. They need chores and responsibilities. They need to experience losing a game, making a mistake, hearing the word no, waiting for something they want, and figuring out how to solve problems without an adult stepping in every time. They need to learn that being uncomfortable isn't necessarily the same thing as being unsafe. They also need parents who teach emotional strength without teaching emotional suppression. It's perfectly okay for a child to be sad, frustrated, scared, or disappointed. The lesson should be that those feelings can be handled. You can acknowledge the emotion while still expecting the child to move forward with self control. And maybe one of the biggest things parents can do is lead by example. Children watch what adults do even more than they listen to what adults say. If they see parents avoiding every challenge, complaining about every inconvenience, and giving up when things get difficult, they're going to notice. The goal isn't to make childhood miserable. It's to give kids enough love and security that they feel confident stepping outside their comfort zone. Are we preparing our children to expect the world to accommodate them, or are we preparing them to be strong enough to handle the world as it is?

1. Dr. René Peoc'h built a robot that turned randomly left and right, completely at random as it moved through an arena. As a control, he recorded its path with no chicks present. It covered the arena evenly. Exactly as probability predicted. Then he introduced newly hatched chicks who had imprinted on the robot as their mother. He put them in a cage on one side of the arena. They could see the robot. They couldn't move toward it. 2. What happened defied physics. The robot still moving completely at random, with no modifications began spending the majority of its time in the half of the arena closest to the chicks. The sheer intention of the baby chicks wanting to be near what they believed was their mother, influenced the movement of a computerized machine. The study was published. Peer-reviewed. Replicated. 3. This is not mysticism. This is quantum mechanics. At the subatomic level, matter does not exist as a fixed thing. Electrons exist as waves of possibility infinite potential until they are observed. The moment a conscious observer focuses attention on a quantum possibility, it collapses from energy into matter. This is called collapsing the wave function. It is not metaphor. It is the foundation of quantum physics. 4. What Dr. Joe Dispenza's research shows: When a person enters a genuine state of elevated emotion: gratitude, joy, love while holding a clear intention for their future, they change their electromagnetic signature. When that signature matches the frequency of a potential that already exists in the quantum field. The experience finds them. Without effort. Without forcing. His son. A student who won a lottery ticket. Tumors that disappeared. New jobs that arrived without applications. Thousands of documented cases. 5. You are not separate from what you want to create. You are the antenna. And what you broadcast through the quality of your thoughts and the elevation of your emotions is what reality responds to. The chicks didn't move toward the robot. The robot moved toward them.

$BOOM! Humanoid Robots Just Performed Surgery for the First Time! REAL VIDEO! In a groundbreaking preclinical breakthrough, researchers at UC San Diego have achieved what many thought was years away: teleoperated humanoid robots successfully completing live surgeries. Published in Nature, the study marks the world’s first use of humanoid robots for in-vivo laparoscopic procedures on large animals (pigs). Two separate surgeries were completed: Key Details •. Procedure: Laparoscopic gallbladder removal (cholecystectomy) •. Team 1: Human surgeon + one humanoid robot (the robot performed core tasks while the human assisted) •. Team 2: Two humanoid robots working together with no human at the operating table •. Robots: Custom “Surgie” humanoids (~5 ft tall, ~60 lbs) using standard surgical tools •. Control: Fully teleoperated by surgeons (remote human control, not autonomous) •. Significance: First demonstration of humanoid robots handling real surgical workflows in a live setting, proving compatibility with existing OR tools and spaces This proof shows humanoid robots could one day help address surgeon shortages, enable remote procedures in rural areas, battlefields, or even space all at a fraction of the cost and space of traditional surgical robots like da Vinci. Read the full publication here: Project page with video: The future of surgery just got a whole lot more interesting. And medical cost for the first time in decades will be scheduled to go down, much further down.$

This work makes a humanoid robot do simple parkour moves by looking with a depth camera and choosing the right move on the fly. The big deal is that it turns lots of small human moves into long, real-time robot behavior, without hand-coding every transition or retraining for each new course. A humanoid robot is usually good at steady walking, but it often fails when it has to do fast moves like jumping up, vaulting, or rolling, and then keep going to the next obstacle. The hard part is that you cannot easily collect training data for every possible obstacle shape, distance, and mistake, so robots end up learning a few moves that only work in a narrow setup. This work starts from short clips of real human parkour moves, like stepping over, vaulting, climbing, and rolling. It uses motion matching, which is basically a smart “pick the next clip that fits best right now” search, to stitch those short clips into a long, smooth plan that looks like a human doing a whole course. Then it trains a controller with reinforcement learning (RL), which means the robot learns by trial and error to copy that plan while staying balanced and not falling. After training separate expert controllers for different moves, it compresses them into 1 controller that uses only onboard depth sensing and a simple “go this fast in this direction” command. In real tests on a Unitree G1 humanoid, it can clear multiple obstacles in a row, adapt when obstacles get moved, and climb a wall up to 1.25m.
