NEW: Ukraine's first homegrown guided aerial bomb Vyrivniuvach (Equalizer) has completed testing and entered official procurement. The kit converts a standard 250 kg bomb into a precision glide weapon with up to 130 km range at roughly one-third the cost of a US JDAM-ER. First combat use was confirmed in late June from a MiG-29. It's Ukraine's direct answer to Russia's mass use of glide bombs, now averaging over 300 per day. Around 10 similar Ukrainian systems are in development, all significantly cheaper than Western equivalents.

Most Ukrainian air support is limited to dropping glide bombs several miles from their targets, or employing NATO made standoff weapons from distance. Glide bombs are employed by flying low and fast approaching a predetermined drop point. At the drop point you pitch the aircraft up sharply and drop the bombs which allows them to “glide” several miles to their targets. Air to Air engagements don’t happen frequently due to the scarcity of Ukrainian fighter aircraft, the extensive Russian air defense network, and the employment of drones by both sides.

Yesterday, Russia launched multiple precision-guided bombs at the school in the village of Katerynivka in the Dnepropetrovsk region, effectively turning it into a pile of rubble. It’s incredible just how much more effective these glide bombs are compared to traditional artillery. If it previously took Russia months to obliterate a village with sustained artillery strikes, now it can be done in just a few days with precision-guided bombs. Not to mention that it’s also much safer than having Russian troops risk their lives bringing artillery pieces within range of Ukrainian FPV drones. The Russian military has significantly increased the number of guided glide bombs dropped on Ukrainian positions. Russian jets are now dropping an average of up to 250 glide bombs every single day! I’ve said it multiple times: the longer Zelensky delays Ukraine’s unconditional surrender, the more certain the total destruction of every frontline region becomes.
