For the first time, footage has been released showing the successful combat use of Ukrainian jet-powered interceptor drones against Russia’s jet-powered drone. The interceptors themselves are jet-powered and feature a delta-wing configuration. The footage shows a series of ground launches followed by the interception of a Russian Geran-5 jet-powered kamikaze drone. The Geran-5 has a reported cruising speed of around 450–600 km/h

Thanks to Ukrainian pilots, dozens of jet-powered Shaheds have already been intercepted by interceptor STING drones 🚀 However, russia plans to increase the share of jet-powered Shaheds to 50% of all Shahed deployments. This marks another shift in enemy tactics and a new challenge for Ukraine’s air defense. Wild Hornets, together with Ukrainian servicemen, is already working on the solution — STING 2.0. Stay tuned. More to come 😉

Russia is increasingly deploying jet-powered drones with characteristics approaching those of cruise missiles, Ukrainian Air Force spokesperson Yurii Ihnat said. Their speed can reach 600 km/h, while Ukrainian interceptor drones reach about 300 km/h, leaving mobile fire groups and heavy machine guns largely ineffective. Ihnat said these targets require anti-aircraft or air-launched missiles, though Ukrainian manufacturers are improving interceptor drones. #Ukraine

Relevant for combat or just PR? Russia's Project Archangel is showing the "integration" of their CUAS interceptor drone with a fighter jet "...so that the interceptor can be "piloted" by a jet fighter crew." But the drone is zip tied to the plane, so...

Russia is reportedly developing cheap jet-powered missiles for more frequent strikes on Ukraine, according to Serhii Beskrestnov, an adviser to Ukraine's defense minister. The concept would combine speeds closer to conventional cruise missiles with lower costs, smaller warheads and larger production volumes. Ukraine is also developing jet-powered interceptor drones expected to engage targets traveling around 400-600 km/h, with cheap interceptor missiles such as APKWS potentially needed afterward. #Ukraine

Interceptor STING downs another jet-powered Shahed 🚀 All thanks to the “Foxtrot” crew of the 1020th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment, who intercepted a turbojet-powered target. Recently, the same unit set a record — 30 Shaheds downed in a single day. According to OSINT research by Andrew Perpetua, 70% of these jet-powered targets identified from open sources were downed specifically by Wild Hornets interceptor STING.

Zelensky says Russia launched almost 1,500 drones of all types against Ukraine in four days, around 800 of them jet-powered. He says jet-powered Shaheds are the hardest to intercept and combat aircraft currently carry most of that burden. Four companies have developed interceptor drones, with one technology described as the most successful. Ukraine aims to push the interception rate well above 90% this fall. #Ukraine

🇷🇺 RUSSIA JUST CHANGED THE DRONE GAME Russia is reportedly rolling out new jet powered Geran drones after older piston powered variants struggled against interceptor drones. The new Gerans can reportedly reach around 600 km/h, making them much harder for slower interceptor drones to catch. Reports claim Russia is now producing around 3,000 Geran 4/5 drones per month, with much of the supply chain increasingly localized. Meanwhile, the U.S. is also rapidly expanding small attack drone production, but the current scale remains in a different league. The drone production race is accelerating fast.

The newest version of Neros' Bandit interceptor drone can fly 300 kilometers per hour: "300 is a pretty good spot for taking out typical Shahed drones." "To go after jet-powered Shahed drones, we need to be closer to 400 km/h, so that would be the ideal end state." — Neros Technologies CEO Soren Monroe-Anderson (Soren Monroe-Anderson)

Air-defense veteran Marko: Interceptor drones cost $1,000 to $3,000 and used to down 40-50 percent of regular Shaheds. Against jet-powered ones, they now down only about 15 percent, since a propeller interceptor chasing from behind can't catch something twice as fast. 1/
