Last week, Carney announced a program to buy 2,200 unsold Vancouver condos. The exact same number. Same condo glut. Same “affordable” framing. They call it “affordable housing.” But neither make the developer take a loss. But you do. You get the bill.

In China they believe houses are for living in not for speculation or profit. It has resulted in 90% of Chinese people owning their homes while people in the U.S. struggle to pay rent. China also invests in social housing while the U.S. government gives money to for-profit real estate developers to build “affordable housing” that is NOT actually affordable.
