The E39 525i is not the car you buy when you want an E39. The 530i has more power. The 540i has the V8. The M5 has the S62. The 530d and 525d have torque and efficiency. The 525i has the M54 2.5L naturally aspirated straight-six, 192 HP, and a five-speed manual gearbox. That is exactly why it is worth talking about. The E39 chassis is widely considered the best driving 5 Series BMW ever made - precise steering, near-perfect weight distribution, and a rear-wheel drive setup that communicates everything the road is doing. The 525i with a manual puts you in that chassis without the weight of the V8, without the torque that makes the car easy to drive fast, and with just enough power to make you work for it. It is slower than its siblings, but still nice to drive and still a fun car.

The VR6 engine was born out of a packaging problem. VW's engineers needed a six-cylinder that could fit transversely in a front-wheel drive Golf engine bay. Something a conventional V6 with cylinder banks spread 90 degrees could never do. The solution was a narrow-angle 15-degree configuration with a single cylinder head shared across all six cylinders, making it barely wider than a four cylinder. The MK3 Golf VR6 was the first car to receive it in the Golf family 2.8L, 174 HP, 235 Nm, 0-100 km/h in around 7 seconds, and a sound unlike anything else in a hatchback body. Not the fastest car of its era. The most characterful one in its class without question. That engine went on to power the Corrado, the Passat, and eventually the Phaeton and even some Porsche models. This example here is the GTI VR6 and the VR6 produces 201 hp, looks like a lot of fun.

I drove Tesla for the first time; I felt happy like a child for the first 10 minutes, and was totally disappointed the rest of the ride The autopilot feature is not available in the EU, but even the lane-control works extremely badly Tesla didn't recognize road works and almost crushed me into a barrier Then it went completely crazy on a temporary orange lane and started wiggling around The assistant consistently missed lanes and ignored speed limit signs, so I had to disable the assistant and drive manually I drove an electric BMW i4 before, and it had a much better cruise control and assistant (it boggles my mind that BMW kicked Tesla's ass in software) With BMW, I never had to touch the gas pedal and drove the car just using cruise control and speed limit assistant You could also set a speed limit, and even if you pressed full gas, it never crossed, which was handy in a city Tesla is still an insane product, the interior and exterior design are amazing, but it feels like an app with an amazing frontend and a very poor backend (at least in the EU) Driving gave me a lot of motivation to make more $$$, and I will still probably get a Tesla, and not a BMW bz BMW is a car for boomers

The E46 M3 GTR exists because BMW Motorsport needed an engine that did not exist. The P60B40 V8 was developed specifically to homologate the car for racing, and it never appeared in any other BMW road model. It was compact, lightweight and built for sustained high-rpm use rather than everyday refinement. This engine was not a variant of something else. It was a purpose-built solution to a single problem, to BEAT PORSCHE. That is why it disappeared once the problem disappeared. The GTR did not create a new direction for BMW. It marked a moment when the brand allowed motorsport to override normal product logic completely.

Someone explain to me, like a 5-year old, why this simple point that exams are an economic problem still confuses Kenyans. After Finance Bill, after the #GatekeepingKE problem with exams at Kenya school of law, you still don't understand? Is it that you don't understand or you don't WANT to understand? Kenyans died for protesting against the economic mismanagement for two years in a row and you are still confused to hear that that exams are not an 8.4.4 problem but an economic one? People are selling their land to bribe to enter lower level entry jobs in the police or KDF, and you still think Kenyans are nervous about grades? Your grandparents were deliberately failed in exams by the British during colonial times so that Africans don't enter the higher jobs reserved for Europeans, and you still think exams is an 8.4.4 problem? Every gear change from the SMG-III gearbox adds a bark of mechanical aggression, making the car feel alive even at idle. The titanium valves, semi-dry sump, and ultra-short stroke allowed it to rev like a race engine. No turbos, no filters, just raw combustion turned into music. BMW has never made anything like it again.

Everyone says slow down when you see a deer and if you hit it, it won’t be that bad. Depending on the size of the deer, you can still easily total your car, so once again if you can swerve out the way, that would be the best way to minimize it. This car looks totaled.

I asked our sound designer Gurwal to make this moment feel like as if a sound recorder on the set would actually be swept away by the flood. As if they wouldn’t be able hold on to the microphone and get the right levels making the sound just barely usable. I wanted it to feel rough, raw and dirty. Initially I thought that this would be loud, but Gurwal suggested instead that the sound should almost dissapear, which I think made the scene way more impactful. I learned a lot by working with Gurwal. Like in this case that less can be more.
