The goal must include provisions for education and health, as both are essential for building climate resilience. ‼️A great injustice is being conducted against the world's poorest people. ‼️ While developed countries in the Global North continue to expand fossil fuel use for their own citizens, these same governments, often backed by NGOs, pressure global development banks to withhold financing from Global South countries for projects that would provide access to clean cooking fuels like LPG. At the heart of this campaign is a critique of what we call "carbon colonialism": a new form of climate injustice in which the poorest are asked to sacrifice the most, while the richest continue to expand the very emissions infrastructure they refuse to allow in Africa. There is no denying the urgency of decarbonisation. But if we do not distinguish between fossil fuels that lock in emissions for decades and those that offer a short-term bridge to health, dignity, and development, we risk deepening existing inequalities while doing nothing to save the planet. Yesterday in Marondera during the Presidential Borehole Drilling scheme official unveiling, citizens expressed a clear and compelling vision: their focus is on development, not elections. This sentiment reflects a growing recognition that sustainable progress is achieved through investment in infrastructure, services, and livelihoods rather than prolonged political contestation. Having lived in the United Arab Emirates, I have witnessed firsthand how a nation can achieve remarkable transformation by channeling its energy into development. The UAE has built world-class infrastructure, diversified its economy, and elevated the quality of life for its people — all with limited emphasis on electoral processes. Their model demonstrates that when governance is anchored in delivery and efficiency, citizens benefit directly. For Zimbabwe, the message from Marondera is instructive. Communities are calling for reliable water supply, modern infrastructure, healthcare, education, and economic opportunities. These are the foundations of dignity and prosperity. Elections are important in any democracy, but they should not overshadow the urgent need for tangible progress. Policy must therefore prioritize development as the central pillar of governance. For over 30 years I’ve been involved in some capacity with college athletics. *Leadership development *Character development *Culture development *Purpose development Perseverance, loyalty, humility, etc…. All of these are about the future of the student-athlete. In the last 5 years, transfer portal & NIL has shifted the focus from delayed gratification concepts to the “treasure” most immediately at hand —a quick fix, all about me, money mentality. To do this with virtually no guidelines, the NCAA has proven themselves to be incredibly weak and irresponsible, to put it mildly. 👇👇👇👇
