This will forever change how power users switch apps on MacOS MacOS is full of animations. Switching to an app means repeatedly using cmd + tab or using power tools to assign a hotkey to the app. Even if you are using the hyperkey on Raycast to open apps, you will still be faced with the animations if the app is on different desktop. I've completely solved this pain point in the latest release of SuperCmd Here's what's done 1. Completely eliminated the animation, the hotkey will instantly switch to the instance of that app, even if it's on a different desktop 2. If there are multiple instances of the same app, e.g., 4 cursor projects, it will cycle through all the open windows of that app. (even VSCode / cursor supports cycling through windows only on the current desktop) I've long wanted to solve this issue for myself, and it has been the biggest bottleneck in my productivity. I see this as a huge win for power users, specially ADHD bois! SuperCmd 1.0.7 is out, but I wanted to dedicate a post to this specific feature first. Here are the steps to create this animation: 1. Design and model your own mech in Plasticity. 2. Import the model into the animation software 3ds Max. 3. Create the animation on your own. 4. Render and export the monochrome model animation. 5. Make the final render for reference. 6. Use Seedance 2 to re-render your monochrome model animation according to the reference render you provided. Summary: In this workflow, Seedance 2 acts as a renderer that saves you hours of rendering time. All other work has to be done manually by yourself. Don’t blindly believe that AI can fully produce mech animations for you — it simply cannot do that.

If you are using an if statement inside a for loop, did you know there's a better way of doing this is Swift? I'm talking about the where clause. I found an old screen recording from my iPhone 11 Pro Max with iOS 17 Decided to compare the animations to my iPhone 17 with iOS 27, and I have so many thoughts 😭 Overall, iOS 17 is INFINITELY smoother than iOS 27, purely due to its animation speed. Opening and closing apps is slow and elegant, accompanied by a beautiful wallpaper zoom. 27 is rough, fast, and lacks fluidity. For some reason, they got rid of the wallpaper zoom when opening/closing apps, making everything feel flat. All of that is paired with the atrocious performance of the iOS screen recorder that started with iOS 18 and still hasn’t been fixed. Notice how there are zero jitters on iOS 17, but both jitters and artifact on 27. This is not a hate post. I just wanted to share my thoughts. And no, this isn’t the problem of a “beta”. Stable iOS 26 has the exact same issues. Thanks 💔

So it turns out, it's more than just the name that Apple borrowed. iPhone Duo is the first folding phone I've seen copy the Surface Duo's unique multitasking and windowing system pretty much 1:1! iPhone Duo can treat each half of the folding display as separate, letting you dock an app to one side and view your home screen on the other, just like Surface Duo. The gestures for multitasking are identical between iPhone Duo and Surface Duo too. You drag an app to the side you want and it fills that half of the screen. You can pick the app up and move it to the other side, and everything will dynamically adjust. It even does the "automatic" multitasking that I've raved about on Surface Duo. If you open a link in an app, it'll move the app over and open the link in your browser. Surface Duo did this, and now iPhone Duo does too. I've been waiting for a folding phone to copy the Surface Duo's unique multitasking and windowing behavior, and we finally have one in the form of iPhone Duo. Well done, Apple. Between the wide form factor like Surface Duo, the pen support like Surface Duo, and now the multitasking like Surface Duo... I think Surface Duo fans may have finally found their Surface Duo 3 in iPhone Duo.

Engineers often believe that as long as a feature exists, moves, or looks different, users will appreciate it. It is created by coherence and emotional consistency. Samsung’s recent update to Lock Star is a clear example. Apparently, I saw this video online and I decided to share. What this worker is applying is called bitumen, or what many of us know as bituminous coating. Most people think a wall is a solid, impenetrable block, but in reality, it is more like a sponge. Concrete and blocks have microscopic pores that pull water from the earth through a process we call capillary action. This thick black substance is the shield that stops that water from climbing up into the house. It is not about making the wall look good because this part will be buried under the dirt forever. It is about creating a skin that water cannot breathe through. When do you need to do this? The need for this arises because the soil is a very aggressive environment. Water is not your only enemy.. The ground also contains salts and sulfates that want to eat away at the cement. If this moisture finds its way to the steel bars inside the columns, those bars will start to rust. And when steel rusts, it expands, and that expansion is what cracks the concrete from the inside out. This coating is the only thing standing between your foundation and that kind of slow destruction. Thats is why if you see wet patches at the bottom of your walls inside your house, it usually means someone skipped this step or did it poorly during construction. You can apply this anytime you are building parts of a structure that will stay in contact with the ground. It is common in areas where the water table is high or where the soil stays damp for most of the year. This is a one-shot opportunity. Once you backfill the soil, you can never go back to fix it without a lot of expense and a lot of digging. It is about having the foresight to protect the heart of the building while it is still exposed. Please don’t ignore this if you need to. If you ignore it now to save a bit of money, you will be funding the future decay of your own home. I hope this helps.

Introducing my new OSS framework: OhSnap provides really simple way to record and reproduce the data your users saw when encountering an issue (bug/crash), integration in your project should take a few minutes at most. Majority of bugs are related to data you have to deal with and often times we have to work with frequently changing data via network API's. Even if you have access to multiple environments (prod/staging/dev) it's still going to be PITA to reproduce a lot of bugs your user saw, since we often get to them a long time after the bug occured... OhSnap allows you to easily record any data your app downloads, pack it and put it on server so that you can replay it on your device later on, while connected to debugger and save hours of development time trying to figure out what exactly they experienced! Here's a demo of 2 app instances running, and me manipulating what server reply I'll be getting, there is 1 line of code needed to record and reply this data (outside of just setting up your framework). I built this so that I can show dev tool building process for the members of which I encourage you to join if you want to put your engineering efficiency at a different level😉

If you think this is just another silly demo made with AI, read this post. You might change your mind, because this demo is about MATH. What you see on the screen is not a render from Blender (obviously, it’s not that good). It’s a three.js app built with Toolcraft. Available on the web and rendered in real time(link in the comments). But Blender still has a lot to do with it. Blender has Geometry Nodes - a powerful node-based system for creating and manipulating procedural geometry. In other words, it’s math. And math is a universal language. And who do you think is pretty good at math? >>> AI. Now you can download or buy Blender files from marketplaces, and when they contain Geometry Nodes for procedural animations, objects, surfaces, or effects, you can transfer that logic to the web. Make it real-time, make it interactive. Materials are a separate story, of course. They can still suck unless you use the right tricks: PBR, HDRIs, material blending, displacement, and faked surface relief. So why is Blender important here? Blender is open source, and many tools around it are open source too. An AI trained on their code. That means it can translate the math from one environment to another quite accurately. If you’ve been struggling to reproduce some idea with AI that you had in your head or seen in some references, and it has something to do with Geometry Nodes, and you can find that idea or a close one in the Blender ecosystem - it means you can transfer it to the web. What you see on the screen is not a render from Blender (obviously, it’s not that good). It’s a three.js app built with Toolcraft. Available on the web and rendered in real time(link in the comments). But Blender still has a lot to do with it. Blender has Geometry Nodes - a powerful node-based system for creating and manipulating procedural geometry. In other words, it’s math. And math is a universal language. And who do you think is pretty good at math? >>> AI. Now you can download or buy Blender files from marketplaces, and when they contain Geometry Nodes for procedural animations, objects, surfaces, or effects, you can transfer that logic to the web. Make it real-time, make it interactive. Materials are a separate story, of course. They can still suck unless you use the right tricks: PBR, HDRIs, material blending, displacement, and faked surface relief. So why is Blender important here? Blender is open source, and many tools around it are open source too. An AI trained on their code. That means it can translate the math from one environment to another quite accurately. If you’ve been struggling to reproduce some idea with AI that you had in your head or seen in some references, and it has something to do with Geometry Nodes, and you can find that idea or a close one in the Blender ecosystem - it means you can transfer it to the web. Burned 200k tokens just for "animations" and still AI couldn't do it well. I tried one of the expert animation design engineer's, Emil Kowalski's Agent Skill on my website to improve animation using Grok 4.5 It analyzed the UI, found issues, came up with a good plan, and iterated multiple times. The end result actually made parts of the UX worse. Also, it never suggested the animation experience I had in mind. So I explained exactly how I wanted it to feel. It got much closer, but still missed details like applying the same animation during keyboard navigation between cards. That silly. The lesson isn't about the model or the Agent Skill. But it's about, "Even the strongest models can't infer your taste yet." They can't and won't suggest it. AI only executes. You have to define the experience with enough details for it to execute. Otherwise, you'll end up with something that's almost okay, but still not what you wanted

There is a room in Málaga that was built to be the closest thing on earth to standing inside heaven. It is called the camarín of the Virgin of Victory, and it is hidden at the top of a tower inside the Santuario de la Victoria. To reach it, you climb and the ascent is the entire point... The building you are climbing through was completed in 1700, and it was designed as a single argument made in stone. At the bottom lies a crypt: a black chamber crowded with white plaster skeletons, a meditation on death and the brevity of life. From there a staircase rises, and as you climb it the light grows stronger and the imagery changes from bones to saints. The architects of the time understood this ascent as the soul's own journey, the dark crypt as the stage of penitence, the staircase as the stage of spiritual progress, and the room at the very top as the final stage: the union of the soul with the divine. That room at the top is the camarín, and its dome is one of the most extraordinary interiors in Spain... Every surface is covered in white and gold plasterwork. There is no empty space anywhere. The Baroque called this horror vacui, the horror of the void: the conviction that a space meant to represent heaven should not contain a single bare patch of stone. Out of that plasterwork emerge angels, flowers, birds, and mirrors. The mirrors are not decoration alone. They catch the light pouring in through the windows of the drum and throw it around the chamber, so that the gold seems to move and the whole room appears to shimmer and breathe. This wonder was built by people who believed that if you wanted to show a human being what heaven might feel like, you did not describe it to them.
