The government has shown it will engage in meaningful and constructive talks with health unions. We want to find a way forward with @BMA_JuniorDocs but a demand of a 35% pay rise is not reasonable. If the BMA move significantly on this and cancels strikes we can resume talks.

@BMA_JuniorDocs Get yourself to the negotiating table and go from there. Not even engaging is the problem here and that’s on you.

@BMA_JuniorDocs Pay then what they deserve and stop this nonsense. We know that you are lying about engaging in talks, nobody trusts a word you say. You will be remembered as the most useless health secretary ever, and after Hancock that’s quite a charge.

@BMA_JuniorDocs Nonsense. You have refused to even meet with us unless we agree to a host of preconditions, we have zero preconditions and have offered multiple meetings. What's not reasonable is a 26% real terms pay cut since 2008.

@BMA_JuniorDocs Taking orders from Hunt who hates junior doctors. Your both an absolute disgrace to this country. How was your holiday!😡

@BMA_JuniorDocs Preconditions then Doctors practice evidence based medicine 1. There is no evidence that without strikes we would be heard 2. If inflation was the goal why have MPs salaries not been held down similarly to doctors & nurses? 3. Why should we have wages cut?

@BMA_JuniorDocs It’s entirely reasonable, it’s how much their pay has been eroded by your government over the last 13 years. A mess entirely of your own making. Funny how MP’s salaries have increased by over 25% during the same period. If it’s good enough for you lot, it’s good enough for them.

@BMA_JuniorDocs An offer of 2% is not reasonable either. You know that 35% is a starting point, representing pay restoration. You know perfectly well the doctors are prepared to negotiate. Stop playing games. Most people are blaming you for the lack of progress.

@BMA_JuniorDocs If we are in danger because junior Doctors are on strike, these junior Doctors who earn £14 a hour who can save our lives, then even you must realise this is so wrong. Can't you see what the problem is? Grow up and start negotiating or just bugger off and get someone who can.
