The government literally hosted a panel arguing that “code is speech” while still prosecuting Roman Storm, Roman Sterlingov, Keonne Rodriguez, and Bill Hill. You can’t celebrate open source in theory while criminalizing developers in practice.

We talked about this today @leamuirleyn @keonne @BitcoinToday__

Yes they are mfers

Words don’t match actions in practice

Thankfully governments are painting themselves into irrelevant corners. This is why you never give up weapons for government claims of safety. Their days are numbered whether people realize it yet is another thing.

🙏🙏

feels obvious now but someone had to prove it

the legal risk turns on whether publishing code gets reframed as operating a service

oh, but they can. The government can talk out of both sides of its mouth anytime it wants to. That’s why being on the right side of bitcoin history matters. And the Core chain has chosen to throw its lot in with the suits and big government actors, which means the Core chain continues to operate at the whim of the suits. The cartel that controls your chain isn’t going to do anything too aggressive too quickly, but make no mistake, you lot are the frog in the pot and the water is going to keep getting warmer. You can rest assured that what they are bent on doing is eventually making it illegal for individual citizens to run a bitcoin node. I assure you that is coming down the pike. Only “trusted government partners“ such as Strategy, Blackrock, Coinbase, etc. will be allowed to run bitcoin nodes, and only they will have any say as to what is actually written into consensus. Only when this happens will you realize you lot picked the wrong horse.

developers will design for permission and surveillance when legal uncertainty becomes an engineering constraint

BSV is Bitcoin

perhaps bitcoiners are slowly (albeit very late though) realizing they’ve been duped by establishment propaganda centering around “speech” and “freedom”…

BSV is Bitcoin

yeah that contradiction is exactly why devs are nervous tbh open source talk doesn’t match enforcement right now
