I’m sorry? But who is this guy talking about? We absolutely get taught about exercise benefits for depression??? It’s literally in the literature? I also talk about positive social interaction, service, and diet. Antidepressants are a tool in the tool kit. I beg my patients to do exercise, I plead. I also beg and plead for them to stop smoking, drink responsibly if at all, and to eat healthy. The problem is people need help, and sometimes they will do nothing else but take a pill. Sometimes it’s all they can do. Sometimes I can’t even help them decide to do that.

@MichaelBosstick @ferrisbuhler81 The fact that 20mins of exercise is key is not the doctors problem, they can explain that all they want but the patients who aren’t going to do it aren’t going to do it no matter what which is why they are depressed in the first place. Every knows exercise improves mental health.

@MichaelBosstick @ferrisbuhler81 The science of medicine is important. Therefore we will always require Doctors to tackle new problems. Everything else can be run by AI, which includes knowledge of the patients diet, medical history and decision making in split seconds.

@MichaelBosstick @ferrisbuhler81 Doctors get taught all of this. You are wrong about placebo and SSRIs etc. What a vicarious internet-surfer viewpoint.

@MichaelBosstick @ferrisbuhler81 To be fair, you do take a nutrition class in the very first year of college when you go. You know like 8 years before you graduate and go through thousands of hours of other classes - And not to even mention the nutrition textbooks are still pure big food propaganda
