A full explanation of Hill grading

@alexsworking @UEGJournal Is Hill Grade 1 the same as loose LES?

@alexsworking @UEGJournal I’ve never used “loose LES” myself and presume it refers to a loose hiatal aperture that intermittently opens up, which would be a Grade 2. I think Grade 1 is hard to diagnose as there is no visible hiatal aperture, just a longitudinal flap valve!

@alexsworking @UEGJournal Tight, flappy, loose, wide open 🤷 says a lot when the text is easier to understand than the vid.

@alexsworking @UEGJournal Is the Hill system used for describing the GE flap valve or for grading hiatus hernia?

@alexsworking @UEGJournal Originally designed for the former but adopted by endoscopists to grade hiatus hernia (doesn’t quite work as Grade 1 is essentially normal without a HH)

@alexsworking @UEGJournal The overfitting phenomenon caused by labeling ambiguity is a significant problem
