Ground crew is conduct functional movement checks on the 20 millimeter cannon of an AH-1Z. The Bell AH-1Z Viper uses the M197 20mm three-barrel Gatling cannon mounted in a chin turret. What makes it effective is not just the gun itself, but how it can be aimed in three different ways depending on the mission and pilot input. 1) Fixed forward (boresight / aircraft-aligned) In this mode, the cannon is pointed straight ahead, aligned with the helicopter’s nose. 2) Sensor-slewed / electro-optical tracking Here, the cannon is linked to the helicopter’s targeting sensors (EO/IR turret), see on the video. 3) Helmet/Head-Tracked aiming (pilot line-of-sight cueing) In this mode, the gun can be cued by the pilot’s head movement via the helmet-mounted display system. 🎥 🅾 hmla169_vipers

We need this type of automated drone landing and storage system installed on all tanks and IFVs. It will revolutionize small unit tactics basically World of Tanks in real life. The drone can spot and tag points of interests and enemy targets, which can then be displayed on the tankers' head-up-display or screen. The commander of the tank company commander can also use the drones' vantage view, to draw avenues of attack for other tanks, IFVs or infantries on the integrated battle management system.
