The exercise is witnessing the participation of fighter jets and combat support elements from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, France, Italy, Greece, Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan, the United Kingdom and the United States of America. It offers a robust platform to enhance interoperability, operational synergy, mutual understanding and capacity building among participating Air Forces, particularly in large force employment, night composite air operations, integrated ISR, and operations in advanced electronic warfare environments. Through participation in this multinational forum, Pakistan Air Force seeks to enhance interoperability with partner Air Forces, and validate its operational preparedness in a contested, technology-driven battlespace. For this international deployment, PAF fighter aircraft undertook a non-stop flight from their home base in Pakistan to Saudi Arabia, demonstrating the long-range operational reach and expeditionary capabilities of Pakistan Air Force. Thus, the Pentagon intends to fill the gap in the complete absence of amphibious aircraft for carrying out logistical or search and rescue operations in the conditions of the Indo-Pacific region, including during possible military operations. It is particularly important to note China's efforts in this direction, which just half a year ago launched the serial production of the largest amphibious aircraft, the AG600. Currently, the US does not have a single amphibious aircraft in service. Previous such aircraft, such as the HU16 Albatross, were used during the Korean and Vietnam wars, but were decommissioned in the 1980s. WATCH | In his first official comments over losses inflicted on Pakistan in #OperationSindoor, Indian Air Force Chief Air Marshal AP Singh on Saturday (August 9) said the Indian Air Force (#IAF) took down five fighter jets and one large aircraft during the May 7 operation. “We have at least five fighters confirmed killed and one large aircraft, which could be an ELINT aircraft or an AEW&C aircraft, which was taken out from a distance of about 300 km, which is the largest-ever recorded surface-to-air kill that we can talk about,” he said during a keynote address at the 16th Air Chief Marshal L M Katre Memorial Lecture in Bengaluru. Apart from the aircraft, he added, there are a large number of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and drones, some of whose missiles had fallen in the Indian territory. The exercise was aimed at further enhancing PAF’s operational prowess through an AI-enabled, net-centric training framework, integrating niche, disruptive and smart indigenous technologies. Aligned with evolving regional security dynamics, the exercise was planned and executed on a Two-Force construct, wherein friendly forces shaped the battlespace while operating within a robust Integrated Air Defence System matrix. This was achieved through seamless fusion and collaborative employment of kinetic capabilities alongside operations across the cyber, space and Electro-Magnetic Spectrum Operations arenas. The kinetic phase of the exercise featured employment of First-Shoot, First-Kill swing-role combat aircraft, equipped with long range beyond-visual-range air-to-air missiles, extended-range air-to-ground stand-off weapons, and precision strike capabilities. These operations were comprehensively supported by force multipliers, including Air-to-Air Refuelers and Airborne Early Warning & Control platforms, enabling precise and effective targeting of adversary centres of gravity. This formation is a significant force multiplier, aligned with NATO’s new force model and high readiness requirements. During its three-month deployment, the task force will participate in additional exercises and conduct port visits. We continue to establish maritime presence in the Baltic Sea, Indian Ocean, Arabic Gulf, and surrounding seas of Türkiye.

However, the reality is very different, this was recorded during the last gunnery exercise of the Iranian Air Force just a few months before 2025 war. Most of the fighter jets shown in this video, as well as many of the hardened aircraft shelters visible, have already been destroyed. For example, the Iranian Air Force no longer operates any F-4D Phantom IIs. The F-5E/F Tiger IIs featured in this footage were based at the 2nd Tactical Fighter Base in Tabriz, which was heavily targeted by the Israeli Air Force, and all of them were destroyed. Today, the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force has only a handful of flyable fighter jets remaining, and they are used primarily for ceremonial purposes rather than sustained combat operations.

The US Air Force first took combat coded F-35A's to Exercise Red Flag in 2017. It was an overwhelming success. Israel then deployed its F-35I Adir in combat operations with success. The IAF has since overwhelmingly dominated the Iranian IADS and C2 capability on the back of its F-35I's and other capabilities. USAF's F-35A's were the first aircraft to enter Iranian Air Space during Ops Midnight Hammer paving the way (SEAD) for the strike package to follow. The JPO and its dismal modernization track record deserve the heat. Yet the F-35’s current capability remains second to none. It is a platform proven in large force exercises, expeditionary deployments, and combat operations, all forged by the most exhaustive flight test program in history. An HC-130J Combat King II from the 71st Rescue Squadron ran air-to-air refueling drills with A-10 Thunderbolts from the 74th Fighter Squadron over Moody AFB, Georgia. The A-10 is a short-range aircraft built for close air support. Aerial refueling extends its reach dramatically and keeps it in the fight far longer than its fuel capacity normally allows.
