The flight seems to have taken off from Kurdamir Airbase, flown over to the Iranian border and back. Flight lasted at least four hours, possibly carried out by an Israeli-acquired IAI Heron, IAI Searcher or Hermes 450, which the Azeri military is known to operate.

According to aviation reports, the crew heard a loud “grinding and thumping” noise coming from the rear cargo area, accompanied by severe vibrations.
