Lena-Winslow's new turf field is looking great! They installed that in record time. It was just a few weeks ago I was there when they threw the first shovels of dirt. Some work to go on the bleachers, etc., but they'll get there before opening night.

This umpire made an unpopular call, but is it the correct call? Man on first and the batter hits a line drive to the shortstop- a line drive. The shortstop drops the ball, tags second and throws to first for the double play. The umpire called an infield fly rule, called the batter out and sent the runner back to first. He said the shortstop intentionally dropped the ball, thus he instituted the infield fly rule. I’ve never seen that before when it is not a pop up. Do you think it was a good call by the umpire or a smart play by the shortstop or both a good call and a smart try by the shortstop? Have you ever seen a line drive called an infield fly rule?
