The Katikkiro of Buganda recently made a statement that cannot go unchallenged. While speaking at a public event, he urged Ugandans to vote only for individuals with prior political or leadership experience. To many, this wasn’t just a harmless suggestion—it was a thinly veiled jab at Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi... Ssentamu, better known as Bobi Wine, the leader of the National Unity Platform (NUP), who stepped into politics from a background in music and activism rather than government. This commentary is my direct response—not just to the Katikkiro, but to all who believe that experience in traditional political structures is a prerequisite for national leadership. While his remarks may sound reasonable on the surface, they reflect a narrow and outdated view of leadership—one that ignores history, reality, and the dynamic potential of new voices in politics. Experience alone doesn’t equal effectiveness. Uganda, like many other nations, has had no shortage of leaders with decades of experience—and yet, many have presided over systems plagued by corruption, inequality, and stagnation. Meanwhile, outsiders like Bobi Wine bring something experience alone cannot: authenticity, courage, and a deep connection to the people. At least me I no longer believe in the so called katikkiro of Buganda, he's a man of double standards!

No matter what we r voting @HEBobiwine he coz he a man of his word when we talk of people with experience was mayiga born experienced or he z marketing mr 500 aka mpuugalism

He views Bobi Wine from a lens of classism, to him Bobi Wine represents thugs, men who grow hair, drug users everything that his moralistic standing is against. Ironically he embraces the likes of mpuuga and experienced politicians who steal and even kill.

Unfortunately for him, we are no-longer blind. We see and discern for ourselves

Muriisa don't be shallow nawe, the Premier was right, leadership is built, patience tried,selflessness learnt etc. Bobi was a leader, he headed firebase, wc had all sorts of individuals, the to parliament, that's all skilling in the trade. That's why marriage is a test to many

He was right ! With Experience, you avoid making mistakes because you will have made them in your previous work and learned from them so in your new job, you tend to be careful since you will know the consequences of mistakes that come from wrong judgement or wrong messages.

It also applies to him . Because of his inexperience in leadership, Bugada kingdom is at its weakness since its formation . It's during his leadership that Baganda are sold into modern day slavery, the culture is almost extinct, and Baganda are the most landless tribe in Uganda
