Home turf…love the North Shore!!

I’ve seen this tree multiple times in person, the video doesn’t do it justice .

Did you guys know that the Spanish moss that’s hanging from that beautiful oak is actually in the pineapple family? Every spring, the flower produces a tiny little fruit!

This one in Southern California will give it a run for its money.

I would have climbed the hell out of that as a kid.

Dang 😮 I'm an all-tree guy in periods, when it comes to photography. That's a very impressive Quercus virginianus. In Sweden/Scandinavia we have just one, smaller, Quercus robur, species. This is 'Kville-eken', the oldest oak in Sweden, a thousand years old.

This was my favorite tree when I lived in Mandeville. It is on the lakefront. After Hurricane Katrina, I checked on my house and then this tree. 💗

I grew up with that tree just three blocks away. We took our cheerleading pictures on it. I still visit it whenever I’m back. I have painted it and will paint it again. It is magnificent. Truly a magical part of my growing up.

Sitting under one right now. City park, New Orleans.

I absolutely love the old live oaks of south Lousiana, especially with the Spanish moss hanging all over.

I’m thinking the tree of souls is probably nearby!

That's amazing. Love the old oaks.

I didn’t know that!

Ive seen it !! Beautiful Live Oak

Sadly, St Charles Ave in NO is losing its oak tree canopy at a breakneck pace

Largest oak tree in Florida is about 1nm from me @Lake Griffin State Park

Is this on the lakefront close to Rips?

I live in Mandeville and have marvelled at it many times but did not know its age! I just knew it was old. But 1000 years old? Wow… Amazing. I’m going to take a 5 minute detour today to see it and appreciate this grand old old old lady!

So great.

S someone who pays thousands for tree trimming every 3-4 years I gotta respect this tree

Live Oak is an American Strategic Resource, and hence, protected. It’s lumber is substantially stronger than White Oak and is rot resistant. Old Ironsides was planked with Live Oak. Brits coveted our Live Oak and snuck into the Gulf region to poach.

They need to burn off all that moss to make it look better.

No!!!! That’s part of living in Louisiana. Spanish moss is not a parasite but it does accumulate on declining trees.

I live close by. It’s gorgeous!

❤️ 7 Sisters was the 7 major oil Companies

Twisted Sisters

they got taller ones than that at my grandpa's house in Livingston parish - get outta here - somebody just paid for that "title" to increase tourism - don't be a fool
