For a start don’t expect schools to be frontline services for children. Make the education system suitable for C21st students Fund support services for babies/children properly (eg SureStart and Health Visitors) Take education out of party politics, have a long term plan

Been saying for a long time it’s not a recruitment crisis it’s a retention one bd yet every incentive is about new teachers not keeping experienced ones.

Very well said. I left primary teaching 3 years ago because of the toxic system fuelled by an academy takeover. I was gutted - still am.

Exactly. The issue isn't, never has been and never will be people wanting to be teachers. It's retaining that's the bigger issue.

As the parent of an Explorer Scout who wishes to become a teacher, I could not agree more with you. He already learns SO many transferable skills from Explorers, including leadership skills, they don't need more funding to get them learning!
