Android vs. iOS app quality difference [Part 8] This one is about two highly-requested media apps: Spotify and Netflix. Netflix is miles better on iOS, but Spotify is about the same in my opinion because each version has one extra feature that's absent on the other. Netflix: - Netflix on iOS has a very modern design. Cool animations while logging in, and 3D parallax effect on the main title shown on the homepage. Nothing like this on the Android version. - You can use gestures to navigate the titles as shown in the video, and it's coupled with cool animations. Absent on the Android app. Spotify: - On the iOS app, you can use swipe up/down gestures to navigate between the mini-player and main music player UI. Can't do that on Android. - However, on the Android app, you can like a song directly from the notification panel - which is very useful. You can add a song you like to your Liked playlist directly without having to open the app. I believe this is on Apple alone, since they don't allow adding shortcuts like that to media player. Which app would you like me to do next? Let me know below!

Dear X Design Who thought replacing the native Android gallery with the Google Photos media picker was a good idea? 🤦‍♂️ On Galaxy phones, I expect the app to open Samsung Gallery, not Google Photos. Now I have to: ❌ Dig through folders every time ❌ Re-select the same folder for every new attachment ❌ Spend more time finding photos than actually posting This is a massive UX downgrade. Android isn't one-size-fits-all. Respect OEM gallery apps and use the native media picker instead. Samsung Members gets this right. I've attached a video showing the difference. Agree? iOS vs. Android app quality difference. I don’t get why devs discriminate even in little things like this. - On WhatsApp for iOS, you can swipe left on a message to quickly see delivered, read, and voice message heard status. Very useful in group chats. - On WhatsApp for Android you have to tap and hold the message, select 3-dots, then select Info to see the same thing. I get it when devs can’t put iOS’s design language or animation quality in their Android apps, but things like these should be pretty easy to implement. Maybe it’s because they thought this gesture might interfere with Android’s back gesture, but I believe there’s a clear distinction between swiping from the edge and swiping in the middle of a message.

Samsung just added AirDrop support to Quick Share on the Galaxy S26. Google already did this on Pixel 10 last year. Now Samsung is doing it too. So Android and iPhone can now share files with each other natively. No apps. No cables. Rolling out from today. Korea gets it first. Then North America, Europe, Japan, Latin America, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Only S26 series for now. More devices later. You have to turn it on manually in Quick Share settings though. Not on by default. Is this the feature that finally makes file sharing between Android and iPhone less painful?

This is the fastest way I’ve found to send huge files without compression across the world. It’s called Blip. A file transfer app that lets you send massive files directly from your device to someone else’s. No cloud upload first. No waiting for a download link. No file size panic. No video quality getting destroyed. No “upgrade your storage” nonsense. Just pick the file and send it. An interesting issue with Tesla Robotaxi where it took us to a Starbucks, but the Google data had the incorrect location. At drop off we were 0.2 miles from the Starbucks, so we had a short walk. Is there a way the Tesla AI team could add functionality in the app so riders can update map info to correct errors or inaccuracies on the underlying map data and then this propagates to the fleet? Being able to do this with a pin drop on the map instead of having to use an address might make this very easy and user friendly! Or, as a bigger ask, would it be possible for the car to be able to use visual images on its own to look for a Starbucks sign and on the fly, get us closer and update the map data on its own?

I know many people want Android Auto/Apple Car Play, and this gives the OPTION to use those with your Tesla, along with tons of other info. They have 20% off for preorder, and you can get an additional 10% off with my link: I love using Waze on road trips, and this looks like the way to do it going forward. On top of having a customizable sized android auto experience, the Dash can display charging, vehicle, motor, battery and tons of other info. Enhance was also smart enough to not force it directly in front of the air vents. You can place it where you'd like with their included kit. All the widgets are also customizable, so you can add any you like and resize them. You can also make multiple pages to quickly flip through different info. There's SO much you can do with this *if you want it*. Great job on this one.

The S3XY Dash from Enhance - S3XY Buttons is one of the coolest Tesla accessories I've seen yet. I know many people want Android Auto/Apple Car Play, and this gives the OPTION to use those with your Tesla, along with tons of other info. On top of having a customizable sized android auto experience, the Dash can display charging, vehicle, motor, battery and tons of other info. Enhance was also smart enough to not force it directly in front of the air vents. You can place it where you'd like with their included kit. All the widgets are also customizable, so you can add any you like and resize them. You can also make multiple pages to quickly flip through different info. There's SO much you can do with this *if you want it*. Great job on this one.
