When the only Black juror didn't fit that script, he became an anomaly to be explained, not a juror to be understood. Thats why Gail was upset.

He was a flawed man, a liar, a narcissist, a Black Republican. Something that made the mismatch make sense.

And then the pile-on started. His personal life, his history, his alleged domestic issues — all of it dug up and broadcast. Not because it was relevant to the verdict, but because it helped explain the anomaly. He wasn't a Black man with a different read on the evidence.
