The line "decentralization doesn't matter" is getting repeated more and more these days. I recently broke out into debate on-stage with Mason Nystrom about why decentralization was essential to prediction markets existing at all. It got heated. Worth the 5 minutes:

Eddy Lazzarin ☀️ makes the case for the opposite read: "Of the hacks that I looked most closely at over the last 30 days, many of them would've been mitigated by more decentralization, not less. In other words, the decentralization part wasn't the bug. The bug was that they were unexpectedly more centralized than many people believed." "With almost every crypto adjacent hack I've seen, the response has something to do with let's get more parties involved and decentralized and remove single points of failure." "We have not learned that decentralization is bad. What we've learned is that inadvertent single points of failure is bad, which is a thing that we've always known. In its ideal form, DeFi is still more secure."

Danny Ryan on why Wall Street cares about decentralization Etherealize co-founder and a key architect behind Ethereum’s transition to proof-of-stake is asked if Wall Street institutions care about “decentralization.” “That’s not the right word,” Danny replies. “They care about counterparty risk.” He explains: “They care about — in a transaction or a particular market — who can screw me over? And if the infrastructure is decentralized, nobody can turn it off, and their transactions will execute as intended . . . [that’s an] elimination of counterparty risk. Retail also needs to be programmatically interacting with these markets to be successful. That’s why I built It’s a chrome extension that enables anyone to create a strategy on Kalshi and deploy a bot that runs it autonomously. There seems to be clear demand. I posted about it 30 days ago and we’re already at 220 users and 20,000+ trades via Reflex!

But prediction markets tend to get it right.” “Prediction markets are an important tool to have here in the United States, and I would have less confidence if the center of prediction markets were in China or Russia or somewhere else. The more we try to block these markets - we saw it with crypto - it just goes offshore.”

Nothing in Bitcoin works without decentralization. If Bitcoin continues to grow towards centralization, its value as a MoV/SoV decreases. Nodes are the last firewall left. The Implimantation is perdominatly centralizied. The Mining has continued to grow more centralized. The biggest attack are the nodes. This is why I am so passionate about calling out Spammers. They destroy decentralization. There is still a window that Bitcoin can be saved But it requires action. Run Knotes. Set up a home miner. Use DATUM. And you God sake, sell your shitty $MARA stock.
