To join the American tribe, you must adopt the norms of the tribe. That was the case with me: an immigrant who spoke only French when I arrived in the USA. I now speak English without a French accent. I fly the American flag at home, not the flag of my country of origin. I served 43 years with the US military. I have lived an honorable life within the norms of my adopted country. In international competitions, I always root for the USA—even when it competes against my country of origin. As a foreign-born American citizen, I made the efforts required to fully integrate in the American tribe. I never asked American tribe members—U.S. citizens—to adopt my original culture. Fifty-seven years later, I identify only as an American; no hyphenated identity. I will always defend our way of life.

@thewillwitt If Mexicans want a better way of life they need to build that in Mexico. The US has no obligation to cover their shortcomings.

This stupid white apologist boy doesn’t know that the people who are willing to come to this country for a better life will be incentivized to do it the right way, which includes assimilation and learning the language. It’s hard but immigrants who want to come here are driven. It’s disgusting that these liberal white people have become so racist that they don’t think Latinos or other races are capable of doing hard things.

@thewillwitt Amazing how many visitors from around the world came here for the World Cup and they knew enough English to get by. Yet we have people in our church even driving cars, living here decades ,yet cannot speak one word of English.
