Bro this take is just completely wrong. Sampling a song has absolutely nothing to do with when the original song was released. All that matters is how well you can take the inspiration and create your own thing from it not mystery bro. A bad sample is simply a bad sample.

As much as I get your point, what I’m saying is that; a good sample is a good sample whether the original is recent or not. And if there are any inadequacies to be exposed, they’ll be exposed regardless, recent record or old gem.

No I don’t think it’s about how recent the songs they sample are. That doesn’t matter at all It’s how creatively they are able to do the sampling. They don’t chop and join sounds. Most of the time they just increase the bpm of the hook or instrumental then sing on it like that.

This is one of the hindsight faults with our generation, not accepting that there’s a generation that understands music from a very contrasting and subjective mindset and experience compared to ours (mostly Millennials). For me, this is a very beautiful way of sampling every evergreen or culturally impactful song. If you somehow find a fault in this sampling by Zaylevelten and the uniqueness of how Afrobeats, no matter the generation, complements itself, then you probably find it hard to accept change and growth.
