I studied psychology and in my introduction class my professor said “I promise you that you will be convinced you have every one of these mental illnesses we discuss and YOU PROBABLY DO NOT AND IF YOU DO THERE ARE THERAPISTS AT THE MEDICAL CENTER”

When I took my first physiology class our professor told the class about “medical student illness syndrome”. Just because you’re learning about it doesn’t mean you have it. She was spot on 😂😂

I recall preparing for the UME I had abdominal pain while studying colorectal cancer Symptoms occurred at night I read advanced stages cause back pain due to vertebral invasion Then I felt back pain, sweated with fear, convinced I had it. I couldn’t sleep until a GI reassured me.

In veterinary school we studied zoonotic diseases and I was convinced I had either Brucellosis or QFever. Just attended a conference and left one session convinced I had Bartenellosis!
