The widely used Mercator map falsely exaggerates the size northern hemisphere by inaccurately boosting the sizes of North America, Greenland, Northern Europe, and Russia. Accurate ones show the world as it really is. The change proposed by Togo, was popular, with 165 countries voting on it. Of those, 164 voted in favor, and just one—the United States—voted against. The Mercator map was drawn up by European colonialists in the 1500s but has been widely used ever since. Geographers have been campaigning for the real map to be used for more than 40 years. . .

Netanyahu just told New York’s Muslim mayor to shove it. Zohran Mamdani declared the Israeli prime minister “not welcome” and pushed for his arrest. Netanyahu’s answer was clear: “I intend to come and speak the truth, speak for Israel and for the Israeli-American Alliance from the podium of the United Nations.”

Do not use the United Nations for something for which it was not founded. You have a hundred and seventy nations. They don't all agree that democracy is the best way to conduct affairs. They don't all have the same view of human rights that we have. You can't put executive decisions into their hands about war and peace.
