The Moon is the perfect proving ground for everything America needs to explore the solar system. Our astronauts will work with lunar soil to extract water and ice and produce propellant, a critical step toward one day manufacturing fuel on Mars. They sell Mars to capture imagination. They sell the Moon to unlock budgets. But the real play is building humanity’s first off-world supply chain. Mars is the story. The Moon is the infrastructure. Earth is still the test. My daughter just turned 6. In 30 years, her future won’t be decided by who planted a flag on another planet. It’ll be decided by whether we used AI, energy, medicine, and sane leadership to keep this one livable while expanding beyond it. If we get wise, she inherits a civilization. If we don’t, she inherits a very expensive narrative.

Can we still do flags and footprints, though?

@elonmusk Welcome to the Moon!!!

So what are the chances of finding ice on the moon?

@elonmusk When will the world get lights on the moon to prove to the deniers we are actually there?

Great momentum is building. A flywheel this big takes a lot of energy to spin up. And spin it up we must do.

This is money laundering …. We aren’t building anything there … this is money for something else they are gonna lie about

LFG

@elonmusk there is no soil on the Moon. it's regolith. soil is a complex mixture of minerals, sand or silt, organics material, and millions of microbes per spoonful, uniquely Earth formed.

I love the Moon idea, but my heart did sink a bit when Mars was put on back burner tbh, as Mars is the long term goal, Moon is great but the sudden change of course did seem abrupt- I realise in the human life span we currently have, the Moon is a more realistic goal.

About FN time - waited my whole life for this!!!! 🧑🚀🚀🌓

@elonmusk if the goal is to stay, not visit — does the real bottleneck become propulsion… or sustainable off-Earth ecosystems?

Any consideration as to having possible underground facilities. If so, can you release any possible renderings for us to see?

Space is the new high ground. We (the US) need to get there first (and stay there).

The moon landing

@elonmusk My kid is grinding for USAFA acceptance dreams of piloting the next Starship to the Moon. Generated this with @Grok Imagine: future Air Force cadet on the moon. Who else is raising the next multiplanetary generation? @elonmusk

It seems there is at least a fair probability that helium-3 mining could contribute to greater financial sustainability for the lunar base(s). Looking forward to hearing more about that and the role(s) @InterluneSpace may play.

, @NASASpaceflight, @NASAArtemis Would love to share more about my SMBS (Segmented Modular Building System) concept sometime. As a Patent holder in a related field, this is an approach I'm developing: in-orbit manufacturing via extrusion/pultrusion of our ContraLock structural beams → panels → full habitats for orbit and non-terrestrial surfaces. All based on proven technologies with no new physics required. Happy to discuss how this might align with current ISAM efforts. #ISAM #InSpaceManufacturing #SpaceHabitat

This is admirable. Putting living quarters deep underground will be necessary due to radiation.

lol still need to put a flag up there! Haha can’t even zoom in on it because it’s not there.

@elonmusk What’s on the dark side of the moon 🫣

Jesus…the extent to which we lie to the world has no bounds. We’ve never been to the moon. And no matter how much $$$ and “expert engineering” we invest in that trip, it’ll never happen,…, and CAN never happen. The earth is flat and we live under a dome. Anyone thinking otherwise is indoctrinated.

Still telling lies about the moon and space I see.

I agree. The moon is a quick trip and reachable in emergencies. I'm not sure why Elon planned to skip it initially.

• 20,000 grains/cm³ of #moondust come into the #airlock with you ! • It's #subatomic & #charged to -100vdc/m • ALL Apollo Astronauts returned with #silicosis of the lungs • What's @NASA's strategy to live with it ? ~~~ When a cleaned archived suit was checked some years ago under an electron-microscope, it was packed tight with dust ? What's the filtration system spec ? 🦆 @NASAJPL @NASAGoddard @SpaceX @usedgov @CDCgov @BoeingSpace

BULLSHIT

“Extract water and ice to produce propellant” sounds simple. What it actually means is splitting water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen using solar power, then chilling them to minus 253°C to keep them liquid as rocket fuel. On the Moon. With no infrastructure. No supply chain. No rescue mission if it fails. The goal isn’t to go to Mars. The goal is to learn to build a gas station 384,000 km from home first. #itsexplained

Why you never went back the last 60 years? Was Kubrick right?

It is amazing when Americans think press releases mean we have already achieved it. Press releases will not get us a moon base there are still many huge technological hurdles to overcome. The question is will we?

@elonmusk

@elonmusk The Moon Mars and beyond🌌

There won't be long term habitats on the moon for at least 200 years, if ever. Humans can't currently survive beyond LEO.

@elonmusk Simulations can be conducted in the Nevada desert in 2027 to simulate the availability of food, energy, and water.

@elonmusk Establish the base on the moon? You's gonna have to ask others that are based on the moon first if that's allowed 😂

🤘
