If a debt collection agency calls, that means they bought your debt from the original debtor. They paid the balance in hopes of collecting it themselves. It's their debt now.

If they give you an itemized medical bill covered by HIPAA without your authorization, both the creditor and provider may have violated HIPAA. That’s the ultimate catch-22 for medical debt.

You can also ask them if they have a license to operate in your state. You can also go look this up yourself and then tell him to pound Sand and thank you very much for buying my debt. This is not legal advice do your research.

It’s dishonest to invalidate debt that you ran up in good faith. Don’t listen to this foolishness. Being an honorable person and pay your debts. If you can’t afford it and have no intention of paying back then don’t use it.

How about just pay your fucking debt?! 🤦♂️

It is much easier than that, First, by law, they must send you a notice, Second, once you get a notice, always respond, asap. with, a) rescind to contract b) request copy of the original contract. c) failure to respond, you acquiescence to the notice.

90% of the time, they have all this info from the original creditor. What you should NEVER do is contact collection companies as this resets the validation date of the debt. Collection companies can do very little to you (in most states) and 99% of their tactics are pure idle threats. It isn't worth it to pursue you legally when you obviously don't even have money to pay the original debt.

@ultramagajeff67 That’s not true. Not in Ohio. They don’t have to give you any account numbers. They will tell you to investigate it yourself. Your best bet is to tell them you’ll pay 80% of the bill.

Or, you can just send them a cease and desist letter. And if they violate it, you can sue them. For a lot

@AskPerplexity how true is the information in this video?

In order to get more tax money Bidens IRS sent a letter from collections. Never mind I hired an accountant and had paid taxes. Those people were crooks!

This guy most likely works for a collection agency and is full of shit. Basically, they have bought your debt, and have no legal right to do anything to you besides pester and annoy you. Talking to them opens the door for this. They don't care and have lots of time to harass you.

Yea, I was doing this 10 years ago. Did this with my student loan debt as well, then ALL of the SUDDEN, the government starts talking about "student loan forgiveness," after I got mine removed, YOUR WELCOME!

If a credit card company bought your debt in order to collect it you are no longer responsible for paying it I just saved you a bunch of hassle congratulations

Ok, what happens when they answer all those questions?

So you’re not gonna pay what you agreed to pay

And if they do validate the debt?

• Don’t pay your debts • Don’t pay your taxes • Don’t vote Realize you have been ensalved by a strange, morally degenerate group of subhumans who wish to see you and your children dead, all in the name of the Talmud. DEBT=INTEREST=USURY=ENSLAVED

Right on, good stuff

And, if they provide this?

Here's a free one for you all... If you write to the collection agencies and ask for them to make available for verification, the wet ink signature of the person contracted to pay the aforementioned debt to the collection agency. They never have it and you're good from there.

Sure, they failed, and you’re no longer paying on it. That doesn’t stop them from submitting your information to the credit agencies as delinquent payments, does it? Now your credit score is 450 and your interest rates are 16% on a used car loan, 29% on a credit card with $1500 availability. Better solution, don’t overextend yourself to be put in debt.

I’ve never had an issue with debt collectors because I’m not an idiot

....well is it any....or all??

Pay your bills and don’t get into this situation. Much easier, less stress

Collection agencies purchase debt already written off for pennies on the dollar and their business model is to collect 100% of a debt they paid 10% for. Its easier just to block numbers.

Any insight how to clear debt that original creditor wrote off as a bad debt ?

They will still come and clamp your car

This advice is stupid af. What he’s saying is true but all debt collection companies have all this info anyways. 99% of the time they will have everything he mentioned.

Is this true in Canada?

@grok list all the things said here

How about a chain of custody for the promissary note? Original promissary note with wet ink signature? Any special endorsements on the promissary note after signed by the borrower?

Good luck

What if it's a fine (Australia) for not voting in election any suggestions
