FREETAXUSA is the way to go- you gotta pay for the state filing but the federal is free & I learned over a decade ago that I can click the same boxes that Turbo tax & H&R Block do which would cost me $79 minimum & I never get a refund- I always I gotta pay - so why pay H&R also?

I got to watch the fall of Direct File in real time at my job, knew exactly who was doing it and why, and there's literally nothing the Treasury could do to stop it. Such a stupid, evil President.

If you paper file, you not only avoid the software frauds taking your money, you also inconvenience the IRS. All it costs is postage.

This is why I'm going down to the post office and pick up a couple of free tax packets and filling them out for free. It will take longer to get my return but or will be free. I'm good with waiting. I always grab 3, two to make sure that my taxes are right and one to send in.

Yeah, I went away from TurboTax last year. It got really expensive. On the other hand, I've been on government websites - not good. This is one area where the government is really bad. A major problem for filing is the complicated nature of the tax code.

Maybe the government should also have free grocery stores. People gotta eat. The government competing against private business is not a free market.

Free filing has been around for ever. What is she talking about? Its not about free filing, its about folks not educating themselves on definitions of taxes, deductions, assets vs liability, donations, margins, investments, etc. Here’s a thought, “Money takes care of you when you take care of money.”

All the forms are out there and available. No way I'm letting the government run the calculations to determine how much I owe them. They have every incentive in the world to mess that up in their own favor.

Most big corporations often give money to both sides. They hedge their bets during the show while knowing the mega corp is really pulling the strings.

The government failed us. They should’ve created a system before H&R Block did. American needs businesses to keep the economy going, so governments don’t want to get in the business of destroying businesses
