I have found that over time as you improve and you lift heavier weight, you need even more time off. Don't look at this as a “weekly” program, do it like this: Get as many days of rest in between training as you need, Mike Mentzer had hundreds of clients and said that 4-7 days is ideal for most. I have found that for me when starting out I was able to recover and after 2-3 days of rest, now I need 5-6 days of rest to recover and grow in between workouts (this sounds insane I know) 1 set to absolute failure is all you need, 1-2 exercises per muscle, doing more will make you overtrain and burn your CNS People never stick to this type of training because its very easy to overtrain and not see progress, less is better, find what works for you

In my teenage years I did 5*5 routine, one day off, 2 muscle groups per day, 5th set should always be to failure around 4th rep. Time 90/60/30 seconds between each set as you progress and then increase weight once the 30 sec set is good. I keep going back to it, nothing compares.

This is extremely good advice for anyone stuck on the 3 sets of 10 bro split. Also good for people getting into gym because of higher volume with lower intensity, thus less risk of injury. As long as you are sending a muscle building signal, you are improving.

I do P/P/L once a week + one "bro day" where I do delts and arms because I'm trying to prioritize them. Best gains of my life.
