I majored in Biology and I've never seen this

it's incredible to me how it has been possible to scientifically refer for decades to something called junk DNA ... how could something so complex and extensively present be considered of no use? isn't that odd?

I have an undergraduate biology degree (graduated in 2005) and took classes in cell biology. This was never mentioned once and today is the day I first learned of this structure’s existence. Absolutely fascinating.
