While the initial sentence was too low IMHO, the example brought for making the deicision is sober second thought. The law needs to be refined so that cases like the original can have a proper sentencing range applied to it.

They did not rule on this particular case. They ruled that mandatory minimums can cast too wide a net and ensnare some it was not meant to. Courts and judges hear the case and set punishment which should be severe for child porn.
