auto start/stop does more damage than good. change my mind

I literally don’t know one person that is a fan of that. Every person I know wishes they could just turn it off and never have to think about it again. Unfortunately, most people have to turn it off every time they start their car.

I never use the function on my car. I keep it off cause I hate it.

100%. The inventor of that system should be in the gulag.

I turned mine off

Auto shutoff. Good for wasting fuel on continual restarts & wearing out starters & car owners.

Guess what? It’s going away per EPA Director Lee Zeldin.

While not a "modern" feature, the sunroof is the most overrated feature of any car.

Tire pressure sensors. Somehow we made it 50+ years without them. If you don’t know you have a flat tire, maybe driving is not for you. 🤷♂️🤣

Publish a part 2 telling people how to disable it

That stupid auto shutoff and start feature. We need to dox the originator of the idea and deal with him properly.

Just FYI it’s not about saving fuel, it’s about localised emissions. In the US you have stop lights that sit for literally two minutes, with all those cars idling the localised emissions are crazy especially in cities. Don’t get me wrong, I also hate start/stop but don’t demonise it for the wrong reason.

The Trump administration is going to remove the incentives that encourage auto makers to include start stop systems.

I totally agree! I have to turn mine off every time I start my car. There is no way to disengage it permanently.

And it doesn't remember the setting. You have to disable it every damn time you start your car.

Thankfully, its easy to bypass. Here was the $40 / 5 minute solution to my Passport's autostop:

Hate it. Won’t buy a new car cause of it

I turn off my wife's Auto stop feature any time I drive her vehicle.

The more they insist this is the final word, the more it feels like we’re being kept away from something crucial. What aren’t they telling us?

Auto manufacturers are seeking ways to shorten vehicle lifespan. NEVER go more than 5000 miles between oil changes. This is a no-brainer. My next vehicle will be a fully restored 2007 Lexus GX470. No tracking! Well built. No intrusive tech.

Have you ever had to buy these gas tanks?? The idea is to prevent gas from evaporating and increase global warming.. You end up spilling more gas than what this shit actually saves from evaporation .. This is an example of Environment terrorism

2nd, tire inflation warning. Bought new truck, came on within 30 days and has been glowing ever since. The LED is durable though.

Modern cars are like movies for 'modern audiences'. Nobody ever asked for that kinda crap. So I won't drive them.

Yep. I hate that f’k’n auto start/stop “feature.” If they’re going to put it in cars, at least make it optional to turn on, not make it something that’s automatically on every time you start your car that you have to remember to turn off! No one asked for it! No one wants it!

I do not like pressing a button instead of turning a key. I realize it’s not much different from a user interaction but it reminds me of the rest room auto faucets.

My alt battery went out in my Gladiaor in the middle of Deatb Valley, I had to disassemble the entire fuse box to get it out so that I could bypass it with some 2 gauge. Dumbest design ever in what’s supposed to be an off road vehicle.

It's why I don't want to buy a new vehicle. My 2016 doesn't have it and I don't want to have it in whatever I buy next.

Get a Tesla. No starter motor used or needed.

I can turn mine off in the Honda Civic ... but I have to press the button every time. There is an add on device to remember the setting.

Absolutely the dumbest feature on modern cars. I rent a lot of cars for work. Step number one on any rental is to find that stupid button and turn it off.

infotainment system

Attention all GMC/Chevy owners, you can get the Range DFM disabler which is the best $200 you'll ever spend to get rid of this nonsense

I fuccin despise this feature. The car turning off at a red light for 20 secs is fuccin retarded.

Yup. The amount of fuel saved is negated by the extra components and extra engine wear.
