The Los Angeles Unified School District has a program where if they can shrink the White student population down to below 30%, the schools will get more funding and smaller class sizes California is incentivizing schools to get rid of White People Jeff Mead “If a school has fewer than 30% white or quote unquote Anglo students, it qualifies as predominantly non-white. And those schools receive benefits like lower student to teacher ratios, about 5.5 fewer students per teacher, additional funding, more parent-teacher conferences, preferential points, and magnet school admissions as well.”

"I would die before I do that," said David Alexander when talking about letting his three children walk alone near the encampment. "I've seen syringes, I've seen bottles of alcohol," said Patricia Garcia, another parent at the school.

As the school year is coming to a close, a new analysis shines another harsh spotlight on what’s being called a “learning recession” for American students. According to the latest National Education Scorecard, it's a problem that started long before the pandemic. The report found children had a steady decline in math and reading scores beginning all the way back to 2013, which happened to coincide with the rise of smartphones and social media. Compared to a decade ago, math scores today are down in 70 percent of school districts and reading scores are down in 83 percent. William Brangham discussed more with Thomas Kane, professor and faculty director of the Center for Education Policy Research.
