The NHS has warned it faces a "challenging" blood shortage as it calls for 200,000 new donors to come forward. 4 year old Isaac needs a blood transfusion every 12 weeks and spoke to #BBCBreakfast with his mum Jasmin and Daniel Cooper from NHS Blood and Transplant

The process needs to be made easier. The scrapping of the buses that travelled to places of work and the like made giving blood a lot easier.

All in Christ Jesus use all their blood, spirits, souls ask Yahweh that Elise Oyinkromeineifa's babies' bodies stop struggling to retain, produce blood, new blood cells, all works not of Christ on their blood, liver, plasma we forever stop now invoking the name of Jesus Christ

And yet having just signed up here in York , the next available appointment anywhere near me is the 1st September 2025. I wonder if a large part of the shortage is down to lack of resources/staffing given to @GiveBloodNHS?

They always say there is a crisis in blood stocks. But whenever I’ve attended to give blood, they turn people away; this includes people who had pre booked. Apparently it’s a crisis; but not quite so critical that the staff work late.

My 19yr old has just signed up and will be donating later this month ❤️ I'd love to do the same but recieved a transfusion during childbirth in 2002, so not allowed to donate 😔 Thank you to everyone who can and do donate, I am so thankful x

Just signed up and the next appointment in my county is October ! Pointless to push a drive and have no capacity to take advantage

I will say that I'm a o negative donor and gladly do so. However the amount of people they turn away who don't have appointments is scary. It's a shame some room for walkups would be a good idea?

Maybe they shouldn't have closed down so many donation teams and made them redundant.

I would love to donate blood but since 2019 they haven’t wanted mine through no fault of mine other than the fact I am a woman who has given birth (AB+) so have antibodies.

Who do we contact I am ‘Rhesus Neg O’

UK blood donations & charity giving are down! While cost of living is a major factor, some argue a deeper issue is at play: a lack of national "ownership" or collective responsibility. When people feel less connected to their country, does civic participation suffer? #UKCharity
