At the 12th IPU Conference in Samarkand, I spoke for India in the session on “Ensuring Political Rights for Women.” Under the leadership of Hon’ble PM, India is moving from women’s development to women-led development: record female voter participation, 1.45 million women elected at the grassroots, and a constitutional path to one-third women representation in our legislatures. India’s message is simple: Don’t just ask women to vote. Enable them to govern. Don’t just give them a seat. Give them authority. Don’t just speak of empowerment. Make it irreversible.
