Super Heavy + Starship is the largest and most powerful rocket system ever built. The design combines extreme scale with the goal of rapid reusability, something no other launch system has achieved at this level. Since 1957 more than 22,196 tonnes of usable payload has been deployed to space by more than 20 countries and private companies. For 69 of the last 70 years, Russia (including the Soviet Union) led the world in cumulative usable payload. According to our global launch manifest, that changed in 2026 when SpaceX tallied 7,962 T of usable payload into orbit as of July 2026, driven heavily by Starlink deployments. Based on current trajectory, it seems unlikely SpaceX will be giving up their lead anytime soon. The Mach33 global launch manifest has 7,117 rows of launch and 27,537 rows of payloads. Our premium analysis this week looked at all 70 years of launch. This animation compares usable payload mass, which removes the Shuttle Orbiter Mass to correct for actual usable mass deployed. Grok Bot was used to animate the Mach33 data. Also Grok Bot was used to compose an original symphony for the music on this animation.

Elon Musk: If you covered the entire cleared area around a nuclear power station with solar panels, the solar panels would often produce more electricity than the nuclear plant itself. “If you take a nuclear power station and the whole clear area that's around it, it ends up being quite a bit of land. If you carpeted that land with solar panels, which would generate more, the nuclear power station or the solar panels? And usually, it's the solar panels. Now of course, you could always amp up the nuclear power station, but just taking the way things currently are, that's sort of an interesting data point.
