The parenting style that makes teaching almost impossible

This is a great point, I think it’s important to differentiate between gentle/permissive. I think the problem is, those that are permissive believe they’re being gentle. And gentle has become this big joke because of them.

Children need boundaries and it's parents responsibility to set them, not teachers'. Saying no is important part of it. Going through frustrations too. I have primary school age child and he knows respect, incl towards teachers. There won't be good learning outcome otherwise,

My kids are always surprised why they don’t get away with things at home that other kids always get away with in school. They ask why their friends in school shout & misbehave yet no consequences but they’re always told they cannot misbehave. Schools are choosing the easy way out

The problem is that gentle parenting is rapidly becoming permissive parenting and we’re surrounded by the consequences of that.

Fuck off. That exact scenario has happened since the start of humanity. If you can’t figure out how to teach, don’t blame the parents

Teachers should not be telling parents how to parent. That’s outside their remit. Advice if requested? Fine. Personal opinion? Fine. Telling them to parent a certain way in order to make THEIR (the teacher’s) job easier in the classroom? 100% no.

Sort permissive teaching out first before lecturing parents cheers. Unbelievable brass neck.

I taught these parents when they were kids. I apologise on behalf of my generation of teachers. We failed, didn’t we?

I think a problem with gentle parenting is it's very easy to turn into permissive parenting. For this example, how are you going to sit a child down and discuss their feelings in the middle of a supermarket? It not practical and it takes time they might not have. So they give in.

I’m Im about to become a boomer parent. Without the physical or emotional abuse. 😆

Sorry, when we're in the shop I don't have time to sit with you. The answer is no. You can't have the chocolate

Behaviour and parent dynamics now show up in exit surveys about as often as pay does. Districts keep trying to fix retention with the salary schedule alone, which is part of why the money underperforms.

This is a power play by the kids.

What a very good post m8👏

Ya know what isn’t helping this? The @LidlGB advert. The girl being all demandasaurus over what her dad has bought? Just nasty.
