Every time I hear “Stop learning to code. AI will do it,” I worry. That is dangerous advice. Andrew Ng nailed it. When something becomes easier, more people should do it, not fewer. I had to go back and find the last interview Omar Berrada (#MUFC CEO) did with Andy Mitten because some people have suddenly convinced themselves that Manchester United have no clue what they're doing. When asked about the plan for 2026, Berrada said: "I think we are going to replicate what we did last year in some sense. You always go into the window, but you don't know how you will come out of it. You have to be prepared and have a clear plan. There are opportunities that will come later in the window that aren't there when you are going into it, so you have to be prepared, be flexible, and have a clear plan. But we will always do it within our terms. It's very important we don't let the market or the agents dictate what we should be doing." To break it down: Think of it like mathematics. Your teacher tells you that bearing and distance will be on the exam. That doesn't mean you memorize every bearing question you can find. The smarter approach is to understand the formula and the method. Once you know that, you can solve whatever variation appears. It's the same with the transfer market. Seokjin, you can come to us any way u like 🥺 🐹So yesterday, I really wanted to post something right at midnight, but I was not sure how to put it into words. So I just wrote something with a heart full of gratitude. I did. But then, the way I feel is that I always end up writing something that just conveys my gratitude to you all, and ah… I actually wish I could talk to you in a lighter and more casual way, but I feel like I haven’t really been able to, and I find that a bit disappointing/sad. It feels like I always come across too serious (than I meant to be). I want to be lighter and more easygoing with you, not approaching you in a heavy, formal way, but rather in a friendly and casual way. But these days, even when I try something lighthearted, there have been various things going on and with the group activities and everything and so….. So it feels like the sense of closeness has become a bit distant. I’ll try harder to connect with you in a warmer and more approachable way.

I have never been to Silicon Valley. I'm a dad in Baltimore talking about AI extinction risk to other people like me. AI Safety loves selling Bibles outside churches, preaching to the choir. It's easy to talk to people who are like you. It's much harder to talk with people who are very different than you. So why would AI safety people, who are from/in the SF bubble, who use EA/rationalist speech patterns and thought, think they are in any way the right people to bring the message to everyone else?? They are not. If AI Safety wants to get regular people on their side here's a hint: get out of the way. You are the problem. You do not act or talk or think in ways that connect with everyone else. I'm sorry if that sounds harsh. But our lives are on the line. Get over it and pass the ball to people like me.
