Students at St. George’s school in Nairobi are on strike after one of their comrades was assaulted by a teacher for being outside viewing the eclipse. The students slept outside making noise, calling for justice. Police were overwhelmed by the students and could not contain the protest. Parents have arrived at the school in a bid to find a solution but what is clear is that the winds of change are blowing even in schools. The big question is if young girls like these can fight for their rights, what were adults doing at bogus Rhema Festivals pretending to act as if everything is alright?

IOBM student body unites to demand justice for a fellow female student who was reportedly expelled for complaining about alleged harassment she faced as the University responded by accusing her of being disrespectful to the staff. Universities in Pakistan for most part believe that students can be isolated, picked out and bullied and as there are no student unions who would care. However, the IOBM student body proved the administration wrong which as per reports has now led to firing of the transport staff member against whom the student had originally complained. It has also been reported that the University is now reconsidering the expulsion of the Student. The student must be reinstated at the earliest and inquiry should be launched against her hasty expulsion and allegations of harassment. This is not the first time a University has decided to act against alleged victims and whistleblowers. In 2021 a male student was expelled by IBA for publicly reporting the harassment of a female staff member by senior male staff members. The expulsion led to student protests resulting in the reinstatement of the whistle blower following my committee inquiries which found the male staff members guilty of harassment. Instead of knee jerk reactions to first complaints and then retreating under protest Universities must ensure proper mechanisms and transparency giving confidence to students to come forward instead of putting them under fear or coercive actions against them. The inquiries will not only embolden students but would also give fair hearing to those accused of harassment. Unfortunately even the premier institutes who claim to have comprehensive anti harassment policies in place fail to implement the same when the need arises and even try to rig inquiry committees or create hurdles for them. In 2014 when a professor at LUMs was accused of sexual harassment the first reaction of the administration and fellow faculty was to rush his defence and the LUMS inquiry committee also exonerated him and it was only later before the Ombudsman that the professor was found guilty resulting in the professor getting fired. Whether it is incidents of harassment, lack of facilities on campus, lack of maintenance of amenities and transport, issues of examination and other disciplinary measures the conduct of university administrations repeatedly remind us of the need for actual functioning Students Unions and Student representation within the university's governing bodies.

I extend my support and solidarity to Telangana BJP State President Shri N Ramchander Rao, who is undertaking a 48-hour hunger strike to fight for the rights of students in Telangana. The Congress government’s refusal to even permit a peaceful, democratic protest at Dharna Chowk is a clear reflection of its authoritarian approach. The Revanth Reddy government is jeopardising the future of nearly 40 lakh students across the state. With around ₹15,000 crore in fee reimbursement dues still pending, students are unable to obtain their certificates and are being deprived of opportunities for higher education and employment. Nearly three years after Congress came to power, its Six Guarantees remain as unfulfilled promises. The ₹5 lakh “Vidya Bharosa Card” promised to students has disappeared without a trace, while the promise of free electric scooters for college-going women students has also been put on the back burner. Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi, who travels across the country speaking about student issues, appears unable to hear the cries of students in Congress-ruled Telangana. When the Revanth Reddy government has completely neglected the education sector and is failing students in Telangana, why has Rahul Gandhi remained silent? I demand that the Congress government wake up and immediately release the pending fee reimbursement dues. It's coming from IIT Bombay's own students, standing on their own campus, speaking in front of faculty after one of their batchmates is gone. They're saying the pressure, the humiliation, and the caste climate of this place are real. His parents have said the same thing in harder language: that a professor had been targeting him for months. If IIT Bombay wants to argue there is no casteism there, it now has to answer the students who study there, not just issue a statement maligning the deceased kid.

The Australian government does not deserve our trust, or our respect. Today, Minister Penny Wong sat back in her chair grappling for words, desperately looking for the right lie to tell. It is worse than dishonest - it is an absolute lack of care. Penny Wong came to this country when she was 8 years old. She came to a country that afforded her the ability to become who she is, and she is now doing her part to destroy it. Back in the 70’s, when she came, Australia was a fair-minded place and a great place to be. Yet here she is... Here in Australia. Undermining our country and lying to our faces. Because she can’t tell the truth. Because if she did, it would destroy any semblance of care for Australia tied to her old party’s Labor brand. It would say the quiet part out loud. The truth. The truth that the Albanese government is more interested in the fortunes of the ISIS brides, women who chose to leave this country to go and fight against our people, than those of us that can’t find or afford a place to live here at home. I am tired of being told how to think by people that completely lack morals and couldn’t care less. People that are elected and paid to operate in the national interest but always put their twisted ethics and back pockets ahead of our nation and our people. I don’t know when Labor stopped caring about Australian workers or worse, when they started hating Australia, but they have and they do. The absolute lack of opposition, the lack of authentic choice has pushed us into a place where these absolute traitors to the interests of the people who pay them - goes entirely unchecked. We are careening out of control, unchecked migration, an energy grid that is just about to collapse, no industry to speak of, and no good reason to start or maintain a business in this place. It happened fast, but those of us who pay our taxes and take risks to make Australia a better place, are being undermined and white-anted by our politicians. The people we are forced to trust, and must pretend to respect, because they have the force of law on their side. Not because they are any good at their jobs. Not because they have earned our affection. No. Simply because they are in charge and there is little to nothing that can be done about it. It is becoming apparent that the two party system has outlived its useful life. Too much corruption, too many words too carefully chosen in a pantomime between to political forces that don’t really want to change anything. They just want to have their go, to have their turn to jam their grubby hands into the till. Surely with this major and catastrophic failure by the so-called Honourable Minister Senator Wong, the people will be able to see through the veil and into the absolute and irresponsible lack of care at the heart of this deceitful Labor government. They lie about everything, and they can, because they don’t have an opposition worthy of the title. I am growing more confident by the day that the only solution to our woes is a new political force, a fresh, Australia first force, that will act in the national interest and put all these corrupt and useless used-car salesmen red and blue in the dustbin of history. It can’t come soon enough. Time is short. I just want Australia back.

I’m now receiving calls from their parents who are frightened to learn that Hamas supporters are being allowed to camp out in Harvard Yard - in brazen defiance to the university’s explicit guidelines - and are chanting in support of terrorism and call for the murder of Jews. The last two nights at the Harvard Chabad Seder table, along with Jews around the world, we read the words of the Passover Haggadah how “in each and every generation they rise up against us to destroy us. And the Holy One, blessed be He, rescues us from their hands.” That those who seek the destruction of the Jewish people are receiving support from Harvard students and other university students around the country - as we heard today from Hamas, should shake every moral person to their core. This is Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko. Students came out to peacefully protest, and the state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, responded with gunshots against students. Yesterday, the governor met with Army chiefs. Today, soldiers arrived on our campus and opened fire on unarmed students. Let that sink in. This is a university that has seen its fair share of student protests over the years. With fee hikes, strikes, and insecurity in the host community, we have marched for all of it. And in all those years, even during the most chaotic of them, including 2009, when angry students burnt down a police station in Akungba, live bullets were never the answer. This is Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko. Students came out to peacefully protest, and the state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, responded with gunshots against students. Yesterday, the governor met with Army chiefs. Today, soldiers arrived on our campus and opened fire on unarmed students. Let that sink in. This is a university that has seen its fair share of student protests over the years. With fee hikes, strikes, and insecurity in the host community, we have marched for all of it. And in all those years, even during the most chaotic of them, including 2009, when angry students burnt down a police station in Akungba, live bullets were never the answer. Vision IAS Delhi Students Deserve Clarity. No student should have to prepare for UPSC with fear, confusion and uncertainty. Also, No institute should have to go through such a phase. Students have paid their fees, trusted the institute and planned their preparation around its classes, teachers, test series and study material. They are not asking for too much. They only want to know what is happening and what will happen next. This is not the time for silence. The Director, the management and the senior faculty should come together on one stage and speak directly to the students. They should clearly explain whether classes will continue, which faculty members will remain, how pending courses will be completed and what support will be given to enrolled students. Even if there are problems, students can understand them. What they cannot handle is being left without answers. At this point, assurance matters. A clear and honest interaction can reduce rumours, rebuild confidence and help students focus again on their preparation. Students are already carrying the pressure of one of the toughest examinations in the country. They should not be made to carry the burden of institutional uncertainty as well. They are not asking for promises. They are asking for clarity, continuity and responsibility. I am sure Vision IAS will resolve this.

Palo Alto High students given Qurans, encouraged to wear hijabs on mosque trip — parents sue Parents of Palo Alto High School students are suing the school district after a class field trip to a mosque last fall. The lawsuit claims female students were encouraged to wear hijabs, students were handed Qurans, and the visit framed Islam as aligned with social justice work. The trip was part of the school’s Social Justice Pathway program. Photos of the students were allegedly taken and posted online without parental consent. The plaintiffs include Jewish, Hindu, and Zoroastrian parents who say the activity crossed the line from education into religious promotion. Zahra Billoo, executive director of CAIR’s Bay Area office, spoke to the students during the visit. She later called the lawsuit “misguided,” saying: “Public schools and the government have an obligation to remain neutral toward religion, but what neutrality does not mean is shielding students entirely. The job of educators is to teach students, and expose them to different worldviews. That’s what happened here.” She added: “One of the most important ways we combat hate is to learn about each other. I am concerned that this group of parents not only wants to counteract that for their own children… but is attempting to intimidate schools and school districts from doing necessary work of educating the next generation.” Learning about others is great. Indoctrinating students into a religion as part of their education isn’t. There’s a clear difference. Keep schools about learning and let students decide what path to follow. Public schools should remain neutral. Teaching about different faiths is appropriate. Handing out religious texts, encouraging students to wear religious clothing, and presenting one religion as uniquely tied to social justice are not.

TWO TIER POLICING IN ONE MORNING. Outside a peace conference at the JW3 community centre in North London. The video on the left (now with blurred out face) is of a Jewish man walking his dog who, enraged at the awful chants coming from the pro Hamas lot, gave them the finger. As you can see, he was pushed away by police and warned that if he didn’t leave he’d face arrest. The video on the right shows someone in the pro Hamas group, giving a Jewish person the finger in front of a police officer who did nothing. The two tier element couldn’t be starker. For more than year British Jews have had to put up with this light policing of groups of people who are not shy about expressing their support of the aims of Hamas. This is emboldening and radicalising people. It puts us all in danger. Being antisemitic and hateful towards British Jews will do nothing to help the people of Gaza.
