So according to all reports Keir Starmer is now aware that he cannot survive in the top job any longer and is preparing to step aside. Despite claiming on Friday be would stay and fight it now seems some truth has been shared by Ministers that he cannot win, and so will step aside and set out a timetable to go. Will it be a simple coronation of the “King of the North” Andy Burnham or will there be a genuine contest with Wes Streeting. And is the process fair and right. Burnham has not been an MP for a decade. Yet now a tiny vote of just 25,000 people makes him the most powerful man in the country. That sounds like a broken system to me.
