The quest for participatory democracy is fundamentally incompatible with criminal politicians. Today, we stood in solidarity with the organizers of the Mandatory Transmission of Election Results protest at the National Assembly. As usual, the anti-people Nigeria Police Force was deployed not to protect citizens, but to attack peaceful protesters, unprovoked.

The pursuit of real participatory democracy cannot coexist with politicians who criminalize transparency and fear accountability. A system that resists open scrutiny exposes its own insecurity. Standing in solidarity with citizens demanding mandatory transmission of election results is civic responsibility. Transparent elections are the backbone of democracy. Without credible processes, representation becomes a façade. It is deeply troubling that the Nigeria Police Force, an institution funded by taxpayers, is repeatedly being deployed against peaceful protesters rather than protecting them. When unarmed citizens exercising their constitutional rights are met with force, it signals a dangerous drift away from democratic norms. Peaceful protest is not a crime. Demanding electoral transparency is not subversion. Criminalizing civic engagement only widens the trust deficit between the people and those in power. A government confident in its legitimacy should welcome scrutiny, not suppress it. Democracy thrives on participation, accountability, and the protection of civil liberties, not intimidation. Shame to this wicked APC Government.

Thank you for always standing with the people. No one can count how many times you have rise and spoken for the Nigerian people. @grok you have any idea how many times and how committed he is to the course of a betterment Nigeria in protest?

I’m glad to see you constantly seeking for justice. It’s not easy to put your life inline seeking for a good Nigeria More grace brother

The uncomfortable truth is that 'criminal politicians' are a symptom, not the disease. They exist because they are protected by a network of beneficiaries—from party financiers to local enforcers—who profit from the broken system. Policing the protest is just managing the optics.

Participatory democracy cannot thrive under criminal leadership. Today’s peaceful protest for Mandatory Transmission of Election Results shows Nigerians are tired of excuses and delays. Yet, once again, the Nigeria Police Force was deployed not to protect citizens, but to suppress them. This isn’t just about one protest lit’s about holding power accountable. Democracy fails when the people are silenced, not heard. Stand up. Speak out. Demand transparency. A true democracy doesn’t fear its citizens it empowers them. ✊🏽🇳🇬

We can’t keep quiet! Peaceful protesters should not be attacked. If we want real democracy, we must call out corrupt politicians and demand our votes count. Enough is enough!

Why do you run again? Mr runner.

A democracy cannot grow where citizens are treated like enemies for demanding transparency. When peaceful voices are suppressed, it only deepens the distance between the people and those meant to serve them.

Democracy cannot thrive where impunity is protected. Citizens have the right to demand transparency without facing intimidation.

On Feb 14, after the Munich rally against Iran’s murderous Islamic regime, I went to buy cigarettes. A Nigerian man in the shop realized that we’d come from the protest. He said, “I hope this islamic regime falls—it ruined our country too,” The world has suffered. #IranMassacre

Sowore have always stood by the people, he's the man of the people. Too bad we don't appreciate him enough. We only remember him when it's time for protest 🪧 when it's election time we all look away

So who made the order on 10.20.2020?

When peaceful protesters demand transparency and are met with force, it raises one question: who benefits from opacity?

During the Martin Luther King's movement, Participants were trained to remain peaceful even when provoked. This helped win public sympathy and international support which we need now. Churches, students, workers, and community leaders all participated.

Revolution!

Tinubu is a threat to our democracy. We demand his resignation now!

You’re really doing well Sir🙇, God in heaven bless you richly for your good works🙏, This what our so called Big Pastors should be doing not asking also to keep praying for Nigeria. Prayer without taking Action is Dead

Every single time citizens peacefully protest for change, the Nigeria Police and the evil APC team up to intimidate, beat, or arrest people. Can someone explain how demanding transparency or accountability becomes a crime? This is madness.

1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended): Section 39(1) – Freedom of Expression “Every person shall be entitled to freedom of expression, including freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart ideas and information WITHOUT INTERFERENCE.”

I have disagreed with you on many things especially the unwarranted attacks against @PeterObi but the truth remains that you are courageous and a dogged fighter. Thanks @sowore.

They keep waking the demons up! The time will come when they have to explain this, the time will come when they will explain all this! Weldon mr president may the Gods be with you always sir.

Now we see why the white Arab and European can enslave black skin people…….we greedy and selfish

@cnnbrk @cnni @BBCBreaking @FoxNews @AlJazeeraWorld @AlJazeera beam light on the events going on in Nigeria as we speak.

My able Sir I give you Thousands gbosaaaaa

The Nigerian Police turned Abuja into a battlefield; firing TEAR GAS indiscriminately on unarmed, peaceful citizens demanding one simple thing: MANDATORY electronic transmission of election results for credible 2027 polls! No violence from protesters, just songs, chants, placards, and resolve. This is not law enforcement; this is STATE-SPONSORED BRUTALITY! Peaceful Nigerians exercising their constitutional right to protest are met with repression because their demand threatens the rigging machinery. Senate's sham amendment (e-transmission "optional" with manual fallbacks) is a deliberate loophole for manipulation, and now force to silence the voice of the people? Unacceptable! Outrageous! Cowardly! We saw this script in #EndSARS; peaceful youth demanding justice, answered with bullets and gas. History repeats because those in power fear the people's will! While insecurity kidnaps and kills daily without such heavy deployment, police mobilize en masse to attack citizens fighting for fair elections? Priorities exposed! Tinubu's government preaches democracy but practices dictatorship. IGP Kayode Egbetokun, President Bola Tinubu, ORDER AN IMMEDIATE STOP to this violence! Investigate and sanction every officer involved. Nigerians have a RIGHT to peaceful assembly! To the brave comrades on ground: You are the true heroes! Tear gas can't break your spirit; stay peaceful, stay strong, stay united. Your resilience inspires millions. The world is watching; history will honor you. Speedy recovery to all affected. We stand with you North, South, East, West! This brutality only fuels our resolve: Mandatory e-transmission or NOTHING! No more loopholes for rigging. Pressure until the Electoral Act is fixed RIGHT! Mobilize more. A New Nigeria is POssible when we refuse to be silenced! Aluta continua... Victoria ascerta! #OccupyNASS #StopPoliceBrutality #MandatoryETransmission #ElectronicTransmissionNow #PeterObi #Obidient #RescueNigeria #NewNigeriaIsPOssible #EndRepression

Keep pushing

That's so sad

We say no to rigging and election malpractice, any one who goes against that will see the wrath of Nigerians. Enough is enough of those sick old men who are out of ideas on how to govern a country.

Nigerians keep it going, make it spread to different state. Some state are willing to join too. 📢📢📢

In this battle, we lack long-term structures, logistics, or unified leadership. Legal and welfare support systems for participants, Strong nationwide alliances (students, unions, faith groups, professionals) and Consistent documentation and media strategy.

They are not stronger than the masses
