Six months later, the Grateful Dead performed their first cover of the song as an encore at their February Fillmore East show, with Pigpen on lead vocals. They performed it one more time as an encore before retiring the song until 1985, when it was reintroduced as part of a combination with Traffic's "Dear Mr. Fantasy."
