NEWS: Elon Musk says one reason for taking SpaceX public is to let the public own a part of the company. One of the reasons I took SpaceX public is so that the public could participate... they could own a piece of SpaceX. Musk explained that a public listing would allow millions of people to become shareholders, whereas private companies are limited to only a few thousand shareholders.
