This is absolutely insane. If he was current on rent, they had absolutely no reason to evict him. His apartment was clean and I doubt very seriously he stirs up much trouble.

Every place I've been these days ask that you smoke outside. He is actually doing the land lord a favor. No yellow walls or ceiling, no nasty smell, no burn spots on carpet or other flooring, they can evict him but not squatters?

wait... they kicked him out FOR THAT!? Imagine you live all by yourself at 45, have no place to put your stuff, no other place to go, you pay your bills for years, and some karen landlord kicks you out over nothing. who the fuck is the landlord here? Boycott this place

Well if you sign a lease knowing the rules, then break said rules you can be evicted. Simple as that.

He sounds like he's not well adapted...and I'm sure the landlord just kept collecting rent while he was evicting the guy, so now he's got no security deposit or anything else to relocate.

Happens in my town. No smoking on the premises. Poor old folks have to go to the public sidewalk a block away. And if the smoke in the park nearby, it's a ticket.

This isnt shocking. Some apartments dont allow smoking on the premises. You agree to it when you sign the lease.

Thats insane , who would live in a place with rules like that , thats entirely preventable by not renting there.
